Abstract: A lace tightening apparatus including a handle and a gripping platform. The gripping platform is adapted to travel up into the interior of the handle upon a compression force being applied thereto. An anvil is rigidly attached to the handle projecting downward from the underside. One or more springs are disposed within the interior, with the first end of the spring anchored to the handle within the interior and the second end connected to the gripping portion. A stylus is attached to the gripping portion having a post and an L-shaped portion including a lip. The lip is exposed outside of the anvil and projects downward away from the anvil. Therefore, when the compression force is applied to the gripping platform, the lip travels upward toward the bottom surface of the anvil such that a lace can be pinched between the lip and the bottom surface.

Abstract: A lift between lower and upper levels of a house includes a cabin and an essentially horizontal platform which is essentially vertically movable by actuating elements arranged thereunder. The actuating elements include at least one pair of rotatably mounted arms pivotally arranged around an axis in the middle part thereof. The free ends of the first arm of one pair are pivotable around a fixed axis and respectively around an axis sliding along the platform. The free ends of the second arm are pivotable around a fixed axis connected to the platform and respectively around a sliding axis. An actuating unit interacts with at least one of the arms such that the pivot axis of the second arm for the platform, the middle pivot axis of the arms of the pair and the pivot axis of the first arm are never aligned.
Abstract: A door lifting apparatus includes a frame and a lift mechanism. The lift mechanism includes a slide and a lever. The slide includes a plurality of holders and a plurality of glides, wherein the holders are operable to engage and support a door while the glides cooperate with rails provided upon the frame to guide the slide along the rails. Pivotal movement of the lever moves the slide vertically relative to the upright supports, thereby raising or lowering the door.
Abstract: A central tube has a rectangular cross section and is attached to an end piece which abuts against a wall of a compartment or the side of an object to be held in place. The other end of the central tube is telescopically fitted within a second rectangular tube. One surface of the central tube is ratcheted and a handle operated ratchet drive mechanism is mounted on the end of the second tube towards the end piece. The second tube is telescopically fitted within a third tube having a rectangular cross section. The remote end of the third tube is fixedly attached to a second end piece which abuts against either a compartment wall or an object to be held in place. The second tube is joined to the third tube at any one of three extension positions of the third bar relative to the second bar thereby setting the jack bar at a predetermined length. This length can then be increased to hold the cargo in position by actuating the ratchet mechanism.
Abstract: A locking device installed in a cargo support to lock a retractable tube, including a holder frame fastened to the outer tube of the retractable tube, a rack moved in a longitudinal sliding way defined between two parallel lugs of the holder frame, a driving lever pivoted to the holder frame for moving the rack, and a locking block pivoted to the holder frame and retained by a spring to lock the driving lever, wherein a L-shaped locating plate is mounted in the holder frame for the positioning of the outer tube of the retractable tube, having a round hole on a transverse section thereof through which the inner tube is inserted into the outer tube, two stop flanges bilaterally extended from a longitudinal section thereof and respectively engaged with respective end notches on the holder frame, and a lug extended from one stop flange and fastened to a lug at the holder frame; the holder frame and the locking block are respectively made of iron.
Abstract: Two embodiments of a slope extension are disclosed herein for use with a vehicle restraint. In each embodiment, the vehicle restraint is adapted to releasably secure a parked trailer or other vehicle to an adjacent structure, such as a loading dock, and includes a carriage assembly which is adjustably mounted in proximity to the adjacent structure for movement relative to a roadway, and a restraining member which is operatively attached to the carriage assembly. In operation, each embodiment of the inventive slope extension interacts with the carriage assembly to avoid a “dead lock” condition wherein the carriage assembly is obstructed from moving downwardly toward the roadway.

Abstract: The invention relates to a support for articles such as ceiling slabs, roof battens, machine parts or the like. The support comprises at least two telescopic tubes or one telescopic eod in at least one tube. A first tube or the rod can be displaced by a first distance in relation to the second tube, and devices are provided to convey the first tube or the rod a further distance in relation to the second tube. Stopping devices for the tube(s) and the rod are also provided in relation to each other and end stops are provided on the tubes, or the rod, the devices for further conveyance of the first tube or the rod comprising a ratchet, rack, clamping bracket or the like which are provided with manual advance devices.
Abstract: Apparatus for supporting modular furniture including panels to allow access to a floor for reflooring or the like, and suitable for supporting a panel end while providing a clear space under said panel end. The apparatus has a bridge member capable of spanning a distance of several feet and end supports engageable with outer end portions of the bridge member for supporting it clear of the floor. A carrier slidably mounted on the bridge member between its end portions has a support which is connectable to a lifting jig engaged with the panel end. A tensioning or jacking device is provided for applying force to the support so that the panel end may be supported while allowing access to a floor area between said end supports.
Abstract: In known transverse flux machines, the losses in the soft magnetic body prevent an increase in efficiency. While the production of the winding is remarkable owing to its simplicity, the production of the laminated iron body conveying the magnetic flux incurs high costs. In addition to the saturation in the iron, the use of air gaps restricts any increase in power density. In accordance with the invention, the two air gaps (21) are arranged radially externally of the winding (15) and the magnetically hard and/or soft magnetic rotor parts (19, 20) which periodically close the magnetic circuit are arranged axially within the ends of the soft magnetic stator body (18). This air gap arrangement gives rise to an air gap surface which is large relative to the external dimensions and the mass of the machine, and also relieves the load on the housing.
Abstract: Generally there is provide herein a manually operated jack for lifting a platform within a railroad car. The device employs a two part telescoping support with a lever member pivotally connected to the lower part. One end of the lever extends for manual operation and the other end is connected to the upper part of the support by a link.
Abstract: A snowmobile jack is described herein that raises the rear of the snowmobile off of the ground when it is not in use. Manufacturers suggest that snowmobiles be raised when not in use, so that their tracks do not freeze to the ground. Manufacturers also recommend that snowmobiles be warmed up with their tracks elevated. This cuts down on general wear and tear of the tracks and supporting belts. The jack comprises a vertical lift bar slidable within a sleeve. The bar is raised by a foot pedal lever which acts on the lower end of the bar and is latched in the raised position. The bar carries a transverse rod adjustable in height relative thereto with hooks for engaging the rear bumper of the snowmobile.
Abstract: A lifting apparatus for lifting a load such as a motorcycle. The apparatus includes a base and a load support which may be placed under the load to be lifted. The base and load support each include vertical columns, one column being positioned in the other column so that the columns telescope to raise and lower the load support. A lever operable cam is secured to the base at a pivot having a horizontal axis and the cam surface is in contact with a cam follower secured to the load support. The lever pivots the cam so as to raise and lower the load support. The cam surface configuration keeps the load support in either the raised or lower position until the lever is operated.
