  • Patent number: 7708244
Abstract: A vehicle stabilization device for use in stabilizing a vehicle to enable safe and rapid victim extrication operations by first responder and other personnel. The device includes a base plate for enabling its emplacement on an underlying support surface beneath the vehicle to be stabilized. First and second extender members, each having a base end and a distal end, are hingedly connected to each other at their distal ends. The base ends are rotably mounted to the base plate and are moveable toward each other from an initial spaced position. This reduction of spacing between the base ends acts in conjunction with the hinged attachment between the distal ends to increasingly incline the extender members with respect to the base plate and thereby increasingly elevate the distal ends above the base plate. A vehicle contact and support member is secured to the distal hinged ends, and elevates with the distal ends of the extender members until contact is made with the overlying portion of the vehicle.

An unlocking mechanism lifts the pivot axis in response to the horizontal force and unlocks the scissors legs from a collapsed, retracted, and aligned position. After unlocking the legs, the horizontal force continues to raise the top platform with respect to the bottom platform.

Abstract: A scissor jack assembly with double-lead Acme threaded screw. Through use of urethane or similar material as a braking means, the jack assembly is operable with a self locking action over a wider range of loads and especially at lower loads where an Acme loading phenomenon that results in said self locking action has previously been unattainable. Faster and smoother jack operation is made possible by employing a thrust bearing, including a plurality of roller or ball bearings, with the jack assembly. A spacing washer is also provided to retain the threaded shaft within the trunnions of the jack assembly, in order that the ends of each of the trunnions need not be machined or stamped to retain the trunnions within the jack assembly. Utilizing such a spacing washer decreases the costs involved with manufacturing the jack assembly, while increasing the ability to repair the jack assembly.

Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses a small vehicle lift generally consisting of a base assembly 14 and a lift platform assembly 16 secured to each other by a pivot pin 18 located at one end of the base 14 within the anti-tilt extension members 20. The lifting action of the platform 16 is angular to the base 14 and is accomplished through a hydraulic lifting device 22 which is pivotally anchored to the base 14 as well as to the lifting platform structure a short distance from the main lift pivot point. When actuated, the hydraulic lift 22 forces the rotation of the platform 16 about the pivot pin to a maximum 60° displacement. Additionally, there is a safety pin 24 mounted on the elevated rear portion 26 of the base that slides in and out and that acts as a safety device in case of hydraulic jack failure when the lift is in full up position. This allows for easy and safe access to the underside of the mower for maintenance and repair.

Abstract: A lifting rack for elevating motorcycles or other two-wheeled vehicles for ease of maintenance. The rack comprises a channel with a base plate that may be laid flat on a ground or floor surface, and upstanding side walls that provide lateral stability for a two-wheeled vehicle as the vehicle wheels are positioned on the base plate. The rack also comprises ground or floor surface engaging rails. A linkage mechanism connects the rails to the channel. A hydraulic motor, anchored on the rails, applies a lifting force to the linkage elements, thereby creating a vertical lift force component, the base plate supporting the vehicle wheels as the vehicle lifted. One end of the channel may be separated from the main portion of the channel and separately articulated on the rails, whereby one vehicle wheel may overhang the end of main channel portion.
