Publication number: 20040036062Abstract: This invention relates to a tool for removing stakes from the ground, including those used to secure concrete forms. The tool is composed of two symmetrical handles connected by a link bar utilizing freely rotating joints. The link bar includes a feature to align the invention with the stake. A gripper is attached to each handle enabling the tool to firmly hold the stake. Each gripper is secured to a handle in a position that is slightly off center from the link bar and handle pivot. This eccentricity between the gripper and the link bar/handle pivot axis vectors the vertical force the operator applies to the handles into compressive force exerted on the sides of the stake by the grippers. Thus, the two grippers trap the stake between them and the gripping force they apply to the stake increases as the operator increases the vertical, lifting force.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2002Publication date: February 26, 2004Inventor: James Toensing

Patent number: 6497399Abstract: A simple, compact, hands free device that allows a single operator to vertically lift and hold construction panels to a desired height for securing to a wall surface. Downward foot pressure on one end of a slotted lever arm causes a panel lifting surface on the other end of the lever arm to rise. This lever arm is supported by a base support which also supports a locking arm. Once the desired height is reached, the device locks the panel into position. The operator is then free to move about, adjust, and finally secure the panel. Once the panel is secured, the locking arm is released by simple forward pressure. With the aid of a foot strap, the device can then be transported to the next panel ready for lifting. This device eliminates the use of hands, bending, or stooping during the process of lifting construction panels.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2002Date of Patent: December 24, 2002Inventor: Mark S. Nelson

Patent number: 6415468Abstract: A concrete form snap tie tool apparatus has an elongated body having two end portions, one end portion has a handle thereon and the other end portion has two sides, each side having an angled slot therein for engaging a snap tie in the assembly of a concrete form. One side slot is angled for pulling a snap tie while the other side slot is angled for pushing a snap tie for aligning a snap tie with an aperture in a concrete form wall. The concrete form snap tie tool allows the rapid assembly of a concrete form by the quick engagement of a snap tie with the tool and the alignment of a snap tie with an opening in the concrete form wall. An elongated body also has a passageway having a sleeve slidably mounted therein and having a hitting surface on one end thereof. The elongated body is formed with a nail support at one end thereof for supporting a nail. A hammer or the like is used to drive the sleeve against the nail to drive the nail into a surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2001Date of Patent: July 9, 2002Inventor: William F. Spaur

Patent number: 6409151Abstract: A mechanical jack for lifting an object including a lever, a base and a fulcrum disposed between the lever and the base and a post for supporting the object being lifted with the post pivotally attached to the lever and a rod movably disposed between the post and the lever and the post cooperating with the lever, the base and the fulcrum is disclosed. The mechanical jack lifts and supports a wide variety of objects including, but not limited to, a snow plow blade, a sofa, a desk, a small building, a boat, a snowmobile, an aircraft, a filing cabinet, a stove, a table and other such loads. An additional feature of the mechanical jack includes a cup member disposed near a second end of the lever which faciliates lifting objects which are inconvenient or difficult to lift. Another feature of the mechanical jack includes a clasp disposed near the first end of the lever for use for assisting in the attachment of an object such as a snow plow blade to a “V” plate mounted on a vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2001Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Inventor: Paul L. Patent number: 6375162Abstract: The disclosed tool (“Trailer Tandem Release Leverage Bar”), is a unique and needed advance for the trucking industry. For use by all Operators (Truckers) that are tasked with adjusting the trailer tandem assembly. The trucking industry produced sliding trailer tandems to provide the ability to balance the vehicle weight accurately between the steering axle, driver axle(s), and the trailer axle(s). The mechanism used to lock the sliding trailer tandems customarily jams for many reasons including being frozen, rusty, or under the weight of the vehicle, and as such is difficult and sometimes impossible to be released or unlatched. Operators have historically had difficulty leaning under the trailer and exerting enough leverage to produce the necessary force to release the latch. The “Trailer Tandem Release Leverage Bar” as a new invention will allow the operator to release the latching pins without physical strain and difficulty.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2000Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Inventor: Darryl Gene Johnson

Patent number: 6354569Abstract: Cribbing apparatus for stabilizing a post-accident vehicle against unwanted shifting of the vehicle during a rescue operation in which a victim trapped in the vehicle is to be extricated from the vehicle includes cribbing blocks hinged together for pivotal movement to fill a space between the vehicle and the ground at the site of an accident. A wedge is inserted between the pivotally connected cribbing blocks for operating the cribbing apparatus without jolts and dislocations which otherwise could cause shifting and concomitant increased danger of injury to the victim, as well as to a rescuer. A hinge includes leaves and wings in U-shaped configurations which deter skewing of the cribbing blocks during pivotal movements. The cribbing blocks include grooves for reception of the wedge such that skewing or collapse of the wedge is deterred by virtue of the confined movement of the wedge within the grooves during operation of the cribbing apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2001Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Inventor: Michael C.
