Abstract: A string loop tensioning pliers device includes a first member comprising a first handle and a fixed arcuate jaw comprising an upper jaw and a lower jaw. The lower jaw has an arcuate claw end and the upper jaw has a first lateral dowel pin end and three in-line lateral facing beveled prongs. A second member comprises a second handle pivotally connected above the first member and includes a notched end opposite the handle and a second lateral dowel pin configured to join with the middle prong when the pliers are closed. A method for using the disclosed tensioning pliers includes tensioning a string knotted to the bowstring, spreading a loop created on the bowstring and tensioning the created loop by inserting the middle prong joined with the second lateral dowel through the formed loop and squeezing the pliers to separate the middle prong and the second lateral dowel.
Abstract: An elevator drive unit includes an engine, an engine stand, a bearing block, a traction sheave and an engine frame with a counter-roller base. The stator of the electric drive is bolted, by means of a flange, to the engine stand. The rotor of the electric drive sits on a free end of a shaft bearing the traction sheave. The shaft is mounted to the bearing block and the engine stand. The traction sheave is mounted to the engine stand bearing block by means of the shaft. A brake is located within the engine stand and is protected by the casing.
Abstract: A novel compound drum hoist is provided herein. It includes a first or outer cable-spooling drum rotatably and drivingly mounted on a first shaft. A second or inner cable-spooling drum is nested within the first drum, and is rotatably and drivingly mounted on a second shaft disposed at an angle of 90.degree..+-.30.degree., but preferably at a right angle to the first shaft. The inner drum is operable to be rotated while the outer drum is maintained stationary, thereby to spool faired cable onto the inner drum. Substantially simultaneously the outer drum is rotated along with the inner drum, thereby to spool faired cable onto the outer drum. Such hoist is thus suitably adapted to wind long lengths of cable with segmented fairings thereon without any significant risk of crushing the fairings.
Abstract: A self-powered, cable-mounted trolley for moving the load along a cable includes a housing, pulleys including at least one driven pulley journaled for rotation in the housing for frictionally engaging the cable passing therethrough and a motor and transmission to supply power to the driven pulley. Means are provided for attaching the load to the housing. The trolley is useful in a building rescue system for moving a load upwardly and downwardly on a tensioned cable attached to an upper portion of the building and extending downwardly to a safe location.
