  • Patent number: 7631854
Abstract: A ceiling-mounted bicycle storage hoist including a first elongated structural member (36) and a second elongated structural member (38). The first elongated structural member is connected to the second elongated structural member, forming a V-shaped structural assembly spanning at least 1220 mm in one direction, to enable attachment to ceilings comprising wooden joists spaced at 305 mm, 406 mm, 488 mm, or 610 mm intervals. A first, second, and third rope and pulley system are attached to the first and second elongated structural members. The first, second, and third rope and pulley systems converge at a location near the connection between the first and second elongated structural members, enabling a user to control the first, second, and third rope and pulley systems simultaneously. A bicycle may be attached to the first, second, and third rope and pulley systems and hoisted in a horizontal orientation.

  • Patent number: 7419136
Abstract: A cable is moved through a cable fitting (for example, a BUB fitting) into a first opening of the fitting and out of a second opening of the fitting. A roller support structure is mounted on a fitting such that a set of rollers supported by the roller support structure is disposed inside the interior volume of the fitting. A spacer is disposed between the roller support structure and the fitting. An end of a cable is then moved into a first opening of the filling, over the rollers, and out of the fitting through the second opening. Once the cable has rolled over the rollers a desired distance though the fitting, the spacer is removed and the rollers are detached from the roller support structure. The rollers are slipped out around the cable and extracted from the interior volume. The roller support structure is then unmounted from the fitting.

In a third aspect of the invention reciprocation means is provided which may be used either with the synchronous motor of the invention or with a conventional D.C. motor to provide for winding and sudden unwinding of a cord and hence an ornament or a novelty item attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 5398433
Abstract: A bucket dump block, used on dragline buckets, has side frames and a rotatable rope-guiding sheave. In the improvement, each side frame has a separate ring-like support section extending toward the other side frame and abutting the support section of such other side frame. The sheave is supported by and rotates about such support sections. The sheave rides on an annular anti-friction member retained on a sleeve into which the support sections are press-fitted. The dump block (which is devoid of provisions for lubrication) has a minimum number of parts and is easy to manufacture and repair.

  • Patent number: 5154401
Abstract: A high strength, low friction, corrosion free block for marine environments includes a fixed or swivel head, shackle and a ground and polished axle all composed of 17-4 ph stainless steel sandwiched between titanium/titanium alloy side cheeks. One or more aluminum sheaves each having a filament wound epoxy glass radial bushing with a Teflon liner are journaled around the axle. Oven cured Teflon filled thrust washers bonded to the sides of the sheave(s) turn against polished inner surfaces of the side cheeks. The blocks may include titanium/titanium alloy straps exterior the side cheeks supporting the axle to provide increased functional load bearing capacities ranging up to and exceeding 50,000 lbs.

  • Patent number: 4936549
Abstract: A pulley comprises a hub with spokes arranged radially about its circumference. Secured on the spokes is a rim with a rim base accommodating lining inserts having holes wherethrough a flexible link extends to embrace the rim base. At the outside of the pulley each insert has a groove terminating in the hole. The width of the groove is such as to ensure removal of the flexible link from the hole therethrough. Provided at end faces of the inserts concentrically with the holes are recesses receiving ends of precompressed resilient elements disposed between the inserts.

  • Patent number: 4917361
Abstract: A snatch block has its sheave established by connecting the smaller ends of a pair of frusto-conical shell portions to a central member rotatably mounted on an axle protruding from one side of the hanger. The larger ends of the portions merge with end walls which are normal to the axis of the sheave and extend outwardly a distance greater than line diameters. The end walls have lips which are disposed relative to fixed water shields in a manner preventing a line, running against an end wall, from contacting the proximate water shield.

  • Patent number: 4842251
Abstract: A pulley assembly is provided for an operating cord. The pulley has a body with a rotational axis and an annular outer surface concentric with the rotational axis. A cord retention member has a surface to be situated around the annular outer pulley surface in operative relationship with the pulley and extending more than 180.degree. around the annular outer pulley surface. Structure is provided on the pulley and cord retention member to cooperate with the cord so that the cord prevents separation of the pulley and cord retention member from their operative relationship.

  • Patent number: 4695040
Abstract: A well pump includes a string of risers composed of a plurality of releasably coupled risers, a hollow upright, and a drive mechanism releasably mounted on the upright. The corresponding erecting rig consists of a mast adapted to be supported by the upright, a deflecting device arranged at the upper end of the mast, and a pulling element passing around the deflecting device and formed at its one end for suspension of a riser and at its other end for suspension of a lifting device. The erecting rig is much lighter in weight and simpler and, therefore, may be transported and assembled more easily than lifting tackle used so far of the same lifting height and capacity.

  • Patent number: 4638524
Abstract: A mounting bracket assembly for a creosote cutter includes a mounting bracket which may be fixedly secured to a chimney so as to extend across the flue. Fastening bands wrapped around the chimney are directed through guides forming a part of the bracket, and a freely moving cylindrically-shaped section of conduit which functions as a pulley is centrally positioned on the bracket. A creosote cutter pull chain is positioned over the conduit and downwardly into the flue of the chimney. The pull chain both supports the cutter and operates as the means by which the cutter is selectively moved upwardly and downwardly within the flue.
