Patent number: 5518220Abstract: A lifting device for a load, such as a vehicle, includes a substantially vertical column forming a frame and a lifting device movable along the column under the action of a rotation control of a threaded ball driven by a driving unit, a reversible-type nut, such as a ball nut, for moving along the threaded rod, and a friction unit capable of creating, during a control of a down movement of the lifting device, a resistance torque of a modulus at least equal to a torque generated by the load resting on the lifting device. The lifting device also including a device capable of overcoming the friction unit during a control of an up movement of the lifting device and a load-dividing unit for transmitting, at a level of the friction unit, only a proportional part of the load lifted by the lifting device.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1994Date of Patent: May 21, 1996Assignee: SEFAC Equipement (Societe Anonyme)Inventors: Frelet Bertrand, Montcel Michel, Wafflard Serge

Patent number: 5131628Abstract: A mechanical jack comprising a base with wheels attached thereon for moving the jack, a primary arm of which an end is pivoted on the base so as to be rotatable with respect to the base, a secondary arm of which an end is pivotally mounted approximately on the middle of the primary arm so as to be rotatable with respect to the primary arm, and a threaded rod threadingly connecting between the free ends of the primary and secondary arms so that when the threaded rod is rotated, the free ends of the primary and secondary arms move towards or away from each other, depending upon the rotation direction of the threaded rod. With the pivoted ends as the rotation centers, moving the free ends of the arms will also heighten the free end of the secondary arm so as to lift a vehicle supported thereon.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1991Date of Patent: July 21, 1992Assignee: You Jin Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventor: Chen S. Patent number: 5096161Abstract: The apparatus described herein comprises a device for easily lifting and positioning a vehicle wheel, particularly to facilitate the lifting and positioning of a wheel for a truck or recreational vehicle onto the axle of the same and appropriately positioning the wheel for insertion of the lugs thereon. With the axle jacked to an appropriate raised position and the wheel resting on the ground next to the wheel base, two sections of the device are placed under the curvature of the wheel, a section on each side of the resting area and the sections connected to each other to prevent their separation during the lifting operation. Each section is adapted to perform an independent lifting operation on the wheel, the contact of each section with the wheel being by means of a cylindrical roller free to rotate on its axis. The joining section of the apparatus is positioned in front of the wheel and the rollers on which the wheel will rest extend under at least a substantial portion of the width of the wheel.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1990Date of Patent: March 17, 1992Inventor: Milos Tomasevic

Patent number: 5051056Abstract: An apparatus for suspending and rotating a boat about its longitudinal axis in either direction, including a pair of movable and adjustable support frames having connecting arms which are designed to rotatably engage the support eyes (also known as ski tow eyes, wench eyes or mooring eyes) on the rear and front ends of the boat. The rear support frame includes a rotatable shaft upon which the rear end connecting arms are rigidly mounted so as to be capable of rotating the boat about its longitudinal axis. The rear support frame also includes a base frame with a pair of extensible legs which are adjustable to support and balance varying sizes of boats. Each support frame includes a hoist for causing vertical movement of the connecting arms which support the boat. The front end support frame is constructed so as to define a passageway therethrough to facilitate removal of the boat trailer upon which the boat rests, once the boat is hoisted therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1990Date of Patent: September 24, 1991Assignee: G. Patent number: 4830335Abstract: A portable jack comprising a wheeled base and a support structure pivotably attached to the base. The support structure is pivotable from a lowered position in which the support structure is essentially co-planar with the plane of the base to an upright position in which the support structure is essentially perpendicular to the base. The support structure comprises spaced parallel guide members having hinged ends connected to the base to allow pivoting of the support structure. A locking device is provided to lock the support structure in an upright position. The support structure uses a carriage member which moves slidably along the guide members to support an article to be lifted.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1988Date of Patent: May 16, 1989Inventor: John J. Schlitt

Patent number: 4593883Abstract: A transporting device for lifting a relatively heavy roll of material to a selected level so that it can be moved and loaded onto production apparatus. The device comprises a platform base on casters that supports a fixed vertical, tubular column, within which is mounted an elongated, rotatable screw threadedly engaged to a ballscrew nut that moves up and down with the column when the screw is turned. Connected to the screw nut by a support assembly is a spindle that extends outwardly at a right angle from the column. The screw is driven by an electric motor mounted on the platform base, powered by the battery and connected through a gear reduction unit to the screw. A handle is attached to the platform base for moving the entire device and controllable switches are provided for moving the spindle up and down within preselected limits.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1984Date of Patent: June 10, 1986Inventor: Richard P.
