  • Patent number: 6062802
Abstract: A paver installer (10) is described for receiving and carrying a paver from one location to another location. The paver installer has frame (12) comprising a pair of spaced apart frame members (18) and a longitudinal axis disposed between. To add strength, at least one brace member (24) is disposed between the frame members. Proximate the lower portion of the frame is a wheel assembly(26). So that pavers (62) can be place on pedestals (72) having varying heights above grade, the paver installer has a U-shaped platform (46) slidably mounted to the facing away from the wheel assembly. Substantially cylindrically shaped sleeves (54) are mounted to the platform which respectively slidably engage the frame members. To move the platform along the longitudinal axis, a self locking screw lift (34) is mounted to the at least one brace member and the platform. A shim (60) is provided on the platform to prevent damage to the paver and provide an adjustable fit.

  • Patent number: 6050546
Abstract: A small vehicle lift of the parallelogram type is described wherein parallel pivoting legs are pivotally attached at their opposing ends to a base and a support platform, whereby the lift ranges from a lowered state wherein the support platform is in close parallel relation to the base and a raised position wherein the support platform is in spaced parallel relation to the base. Both the support platform and the base pivotally bear the legs within channels and thereby surround the legs at opposing planes adjacent the planes wherein the legs pivot. The channels within the base also have wheels rotatably mounted therein to allow the lift to be easily transported. Two opposing pivoting legs are affixed together by a bridge member which is pivotally connected to a linear actuator, which is in turn pivotally connected to the base. Actuation of the linear actuator thereby raises and lowers the support platform with respect to the base.

  • Patent number: 5836462
Abstract: Adjusting device for a hoisting crane including a work spindle, which is given an axial travel within a cylinder by a relative movement between a screw and a cooperating groove following a driving device. The work spindle has a free end, which is connected to a lifting arm of the hoisting crane through a connector or the like. In order to make it possible to move the work spindle axially without help of the driving device in the case of an emergency, the connector includes a connection which is stiff in the axial direction of the work spindle, and which includes two parts which are rotatable in relation to each other against a certain friction resistance around an axis, which is concentric to the work spindle.

  • Patent number: 5674045
Abstract: A lifting and moving portable apparatus and method that includes a beam extending across the manhole cover supported at one end by a pivot member resting on the surface outside the manhole periphery and supported at the other end by a pair of wheels riding on the surface outside the manhole periphery. A lifting device is mounted on the center region of the beam for securing the cover and lifting the cover above the cover rim or surrounding surface. Once lifted, the operator can roll the beam and cover assembly through an arc about the pivot axis to expose the entire manhole. • Patent number: 5636705
Abstract: The scaffolding comprises a post having a plurality of vertically aligned and equally spaced studs protruding on one of its surfaces. A frame supporting a work platform can move along the post, a sleeve being attached to the frame for guiding it along the post. The sleeve, the frame and the work platform partially surround the post. A lifting apparatus, installed on the sleeve, comprises a rotatable endless screw which is parallel to the post and which has a peripheral and helical flange which bears on the studs. An engine, an electric power drill or a manual handle will rotate the endless screw via one or two speed reducers. The rotation movement of the endless screw will result in the axial displacement thereof along the post, carrying the frame and work platform along with it. Another embodiment of the invention comprises a work platform which is supported at both of its ends by a lifting apparatus movable along a post.

  • Patent number: 5544860
Abstract: A hoist apparatus for accurately positioning and supporting a load above a production line, which includes an elongated post having a pair of sides with arcuate guide channels formed thereon, and a front face having a recess formed therein. A carriage is supported on the elongated post and a drive screw engages the carriage such that rotation of the drive screw axially translates the carriage in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the post. A base supports the elongated post and includes an interior cross section complementary-shaped to the exterior of the post's exterior surface. In the first embodiment, a plurality of casters are carried by the carriage and rotatably engage the guide channels. The casters are each rotatably mounted on an eccectric cam shaft such that rotation of the cam shaft axially translates the casters toward or away from the guide channel. Such rotation allows the casters to be accurately positioned relative to the guide channel.

  • Patent number: 5090664
Abstract: The tool includes a base having an adjustment wedge, a counter wedge slidable on the inclined surface of the adjustment wedge, a plurality of roller bars in a recess on the upper surface of the counter wedge and a cover member supported by the roller bars. A power screw is used to horizontally displace the adjustment wedge to elevate the counter wedge, cover member and, hence, the load. The plurality of roller bars are confined within a recess to constrain relative movement of the cover member and the counter wedge. To release the cover member for movement, roller bars of reduced diameter at the opposite ends of the wedge are removed to permit the cover member to move relative to the counter wedge. Horizontal adjustment screws cooperate between the cover member and the base to precisely control the movement.
