  • Patent number: 11967922
Abstract: A universal adapter for enabling truss foundations to support conventional single-axis trackers. In some cases, the adapter has a main body with an upper portion that presents a standard I-beam interface with pre-drilled holes to interface to a specific single-axis tracker. A pair of connecting portions point down and away from the main body and enable upper leg sections to connect the adapter to a pair of driven screw anchors located below it. The connecting portions may orient the truss so that the rotational axis of the single-axis tracker is aligned with the work point of the truss foundation made from the adapter, upper legs, and driven screw anchors. This will enable to the truss to interface with many different trackers much like conventional plumb-driven H-pile foundations.

  • Patent number: 7300037
Abstract: A fall protection device for an opening in a roof includes at least one rail section having a vertical member. The vertical member is preferably in the form of a metal tube having an open lower end. A bearing foot has a connecting portion and a bearing portion and is secured to the lower end of the vertical member by the connecting portion so that the bearing portion supports the vertical member above the roof. The connecting portion of the bearing foot preferably extends into the open lower end of the tube and resiliently engages an interior surface of the tube to secure the bearing foot thereto. A hardness of the bearing portion is greater than a hardness of the connecting portion. The connecting portion and the bearing portion are preferably plastic and co-molded so that the bearing foot is of unitary construction.

  • Patent number: 6874766
Abstract: A deck railing section comprises synthetic posts held spaced from one another by top and bottom rail members. Each of the rail members has a multiple piece construction including first and second interlocking synthetic rail pieces and a metallic reinforcing insert. The insert has holes at post attachment locations along the insert. Each post has screw ports to opposite ends of the post. Rail members are secured to the posts by threaded attachment members passing through the holes in the inserts and into the screw ports of the posts. The first rail pieces are trapped between the posts and the inserts. The second rail pieces lock onto the first rail pieces hiding the reinforcing inserts internally of the rail members.

Abstract: A modular non-combustible self supporting fencing system made up of modular combinations of vertical supports and horizontal crossbars that are configured to interconnect to form stable connecting structures for use in a variety of soil types and in a variety of varied conditions, thus reducing the number of types of pieces required to assemble the structure and increasing the functionality of the device. The fencing system allows for durable, relatively maintenance free fencing in a variety of locations that is simple to install and requires little or no maintenance. The device can be installed without the use of tools by unskilled labor in a quick and efficient manner.

Abstract: A barricade contains at least one extendable beam. The beams are movable between a non-extended position in which they substantially rest within the footprint of a barricade frame and an extended position in which they extend away from the barricade frame. The beams may contain connecting mechanism which enable the beams of like barricades to be connected, thereby creating a longer barricade.

  • Patent number: 6705796
Abstract: Versatile multi-function legs can have different end portions to have either a shorter or a longer length but can otherwise be of identical form. In saw-horse structures, the two lengths, together with panels of different heights and connections between legs and panels, allow a variety of configurations. For folding of such structures, sturdy and reliable pivotal connections are provided through engagement of bearing surfaces of knuckle projections on adjacent legs. For A-frame structures, the legs can provide vertical posts that have openings receiving two lower beams and supporting a third beam at a higher elevation. The legs can also provide horizontal sand rails in A-frame structures. Legs of both lengths can be molded using common sets of tools and allowing a change between lengths to be readily made during a press run.

  • Patent number: 6526722
Abstract: A device to inexpensively repair a wooden post that has rotted or failed. The device comprises a plate which has a plurality of holes drilled or punched in it for attaching above ground level to a side of a wooden post and at least two rods depending out and down from the face of the plate. At least one of the rods depends near the top of the plate and at least one of the rods depends near the bottom of the plate. This location of the rods allows them to work cooperatively in tension-compression to counteract a moment tending to overturn the post. The rods extend into a hole dug in the soil adjacent to the existing post footing. After the fence has been aligned as desired, the hole is filled with concrete surrounding the rods.

Abstract: An addition for a wrought iron fence to discourage dogs from digging under the resulting modified fence. The addition has a horizontal support bar affixed to the fence near the bottom of the fence. Guide tubes are vertically held to the horizontal support bar, close enough to prevent the passage of a dog between adjacent guide tubes. A spike is inserted into each of the guide tubes and driven into the ground to provide an underground barrier. The present invention is also for the process of using the addition, including the steps of attaching the horizontal support bar to the fence. Next, a spike is inserted through each of the guide tubes. Lastly, the spikes are driven into the ground to form the underground barrier. An O-ring may be placed over the spikes above the guide tubes to limit the downward movement of the spikes for use, for instance, in a gate. Also, an O-ring may be placed over the spike below the guide tube to prevent the lifting of a spike by a dog.

  • Patent number: 6481697
Abstract: A modular railing system supports a plurality of rails in vertically-spaced configuration. The railing system includes a plurality of baluster units arranged between rail sets to support the rails. The baluster units include a plurality of rail supports grouped into double barrel support pairs or single barrel support pairs. The baluster units may include a short section of kick rail, and longer sections of kick rail may extend between adjacent baluster units. Also, additional rails may be joined to the modular railing system using baluster extensions or extender bars. A stair rail adjuster may be used, particularly when railing staircases, to permit adjustment of the relative vertical height of one end of a rail. To attach rails and balusters to stair treads, a finished-stair-tread adapter may be used.
