When in the folded position, the handrail has a support surface that is elevated along a central area of the handrail higher than at least one side of the handrail.

    Abstract: The rotatable leg provides a way to quickly setup a security barricade without the need for fasteners or tools. The leg is permanently attached to the security barrier frame and can be rotated 90 degrees in order to align the feet either in line or perpendicular to the barricade frame. The leg uses a simple spring and washer mechanism to provide holding force to the frame while also allowing the leg to be rotated in the desired position using a V notch surface that mates to the bottom crossbar of the barricade. This leg can be easily rotated 90 degrees using only hand pressure without any tools. This invention provides not only a quick setup of the barricade but also prevents loss of parts such as pins or other fasteners used with detachable feet in typical barricades.

    Abstract: A safety rail monitoring system, and associated methods of operation, for monitoring use of a safety rail that borders a footpath to help prevent injuries while the user traverses the footpath. The safety system includes a sensor system for detecting the presence of a user on the footpath and the presence of a contact by the user on the safety rail. A sensor observation system in communication with the sensor system receives signals indicating whether the user is present on the footpath and whether the user is holding on to the safety rail. If the user is not holding on to the safety rail, the sensor observation system generates an alert signal to the user to remind the user to hold the safety rail. In some embodiments, the safety system may include a barrier that prevents the user from continuing along the footpath without contacting the safety rail.

Wedges connect ledger ends to connecting wheels on hub vertical posts, and secure a stiffener to the wheel and ledger sections. The blocks are selectively stacked on the bracket with one upright leg extending through weight block center openings and the other upright leg in side slots of the blocks. A trolley has a carrying connector for connecting to a connector of the one upright leg on top of the counterweight for transporting the counterweight.

    Abstract: An improved mounting structure for the posts of hand rail systems including a mounting arm member positioned within a sleeve monolithically formed within the inner chamber of the post. The sleeve includes a slit that allows for the outflow of water, thereby limiting corrosion and degrading of the post and mounting structure. A series of nubbed projections create grooves within the surface of the sleeve, to secure the mounting arm into the sleeve in a strong manner. A secure fit limits the amount of liquid trapped within the sleeve reducing corrosion. The mounting arm has smaller dimensions, reducing the chances that the arm comes into contact with support rods embedded within the concrete during installation. By avoiding contact with the support rods, concrete spalling is dramatically reduced, adding to the lifetime of the rail system.

    Abstract: A handrail includes a top surface having a first flat portion extending in a first direction, a first finger rest portion continuously extending downward, and a second flat portion continuously extending in the first direction; a front surface having a flat first guiding portion continuously extending downward, a second finger rest portion continuously extending in a second direction opposite to the first direction, a second guiding portion continuously projecting downward in an arc shape, a third guiding portion continuously projecting downward in an arc shape in the second direction, and a third finger rest portion formed from a boundary between the second guiding portion and the third guiding portion extending upward. The handrail is structured so that when the handrail is grasped, fingers are placed on any one of the first finger rest portion, the second finger rest portion, or the third finger rest portion.
