Patent number: 7866636Abstract: A stanchion base shoe support for railings. The stanchions are set into a concrete slab or curb during the construction. Only the top surface of a mounting plate is exposed prior to mounting the base shoe extrusion. The stanchion is constructed from steel or a similar material. A flange plate at the top of the stanchion provides an easy place to mount a temporary support member when placing the stanchion into the concrete formwork. The stanchion system eliminates all field drilling of concrete. The stanchions have a top plate and cylindrical members that have a set of internal threads. After the concrete is cured, workers apply a base shoe, securing it to the stanchions. This makes drilling and securing the base shoe simpler, easier and more accurate. Once the base shoe is installed, the railing system is built up in the normal manner.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2008Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Inventor: Tracy C. Hansen

Patent number: 7516575Abstract: An improved safety railing for use with an opening in a rooftop or other location. The safety railing is easily securable to the curb, or upstanding wall, surrounding the opening. The securing mechanism of the safety railing also takes advantage of any outwardly protruding lip on the curb of the opening. The safety railing features a base portion that is reversibly securable to the curb portion of the opening and a railing portion that rises above the base portion. The base portion includes a pair of side members that are shaped and sized to abut the upstanding portion of the curb. Each of the curb members also present a surface to underlie the lip of the curb and engage it if the base portion is lifted. The base portion also includes two base members that interconnect the two side members. The base members are preferably formed of round hollow stock and have threaded nuts welded to each axial end. Threaded bolts are used to affix the side members to the base members.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2004Date of Patent: April 14, 2009Inventor: Joseph Cuccurullo

Publication number: 20090085022Abstract: This invention relates to a safety post comprising an elongate tubular member and a locking device arranged inside of the tubular member. The safety post is mountable in a post holder. The locking device includes a lever and a bias spring device biasing the lever against an inner surface of the wall of the tubular member. The lever has a lock protrusion extending through a first aperture portion of the wall, and a release protrusion extending through a second aperture portion of the wall. The release protrusion is arranged at a distance from the lock protrusion. The lock protrusion is retractable to a release position inside of an outer surface of the tubular member by operation of the release protrusion in a counter biasing direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2007Publication date: April 2, 2009Applicant: Combisafe International ABInventor: Joakim Svedberg

Patent number: 7506859Abstract: An improved anchor for degradation-resistant treated posts or posts protected with a conforming, protective cover that resists uplift or pull-out forces of a predetermined value without compromising the integrity of the treatment or protective cover. At least one indentation is applied to a portion of the post embedded in the ground prior to applying a conforming, protective cover or the other material degradation-resistant treatment. The indentation is configured such that the protective cover will conform to the contour of the indentation when the protective cover is applied to the post. In posts relying on degradation-resistant treatments, the indentation is applied prior to treatment so that the integrity of the treatment is not compromised by the indentation.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2005Date of Patent: March 24, 2009Inventors: William R. Keller, John Makuvek

Patent number: 7503550Abstract: An enclosed fence railing set includes a set of posts with tips and fixing components for an upper beam and lower beam on both sides thereof. The fence railing set also includes a set of beams including an upper beam and a lower beam wherein the upper beam and lower beam match the fixing components and wherein there are railings between the sets of beams. A set of stakes are provided for fixing the posts. Each of the stakes includes a tube extending upwardly from the stake and a plate separating the stake and tube with a number of holes in the plate.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2007Date of Patent: March 17, 2009Inventor: Norman William Liefke

Patent number: 7475868Abstract: A high security fence which includes strengthening cables. The cables extend internally within the aligned rails of the fence, and through cable passageways formed in the posts which support the fence rails. The cables are anchored adjacent each end by a substrate. Anchors are installed on each end of the cable to resist pullout of the cable from the substrate, which may be a concrete-filled bollard post installed in a buried concrete deadman.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2004Date of Patent: January 13, 2009Inventor: Edward L.
