Abstract: A bioabsorbable drug delivery device and various methods of making the same. The devices are preferably formed from bioabsorbable materials using low temperature fabrication processes, whereby drugs or other bio-active agents are incorporated into or onto the device and degradation of the drugs or other agents during processing is minimized. Radiopaque markers may also be incorporated into, or onto, the devices. The devices may be generally tubular helical stents comprised of a solid ladder or an open lattice configuration, or a hybrid combination thereof. The tubular helical stents are generally formed from precursor fibers, films or tubes. The solid ladder configuration provides increased radiopacity and increased radial strength, whereas the open lattice configuration provides better endothelialization and fluid flow through the stent.

Abstract: The present invention uses natural materials to manufacture disposable containers, so that the present invention has no problem of environment hormone and the like as well as does no harm to human bodies unlike polystyrene-based disposable containers. Further, the present invention foams natural materials to fabricate disposable containers, so as to solve the weakness of conventional natural material-based disposable containers, that is, the problems of fragility or deformation and weight, to thereby provide economic and environment-friendly disposable containers which are light-weighted but less damaged or deformed.

  • Patent number: 7018575
Abstract: A method for assembly including the steps of: (a) providing a plurality of microstructure components with each of the components having a bottom with the same three dimensional shape; (b) forming a mold with at least one protuberance from a surface thereof so that the at least one protuberance has the same shape; (c) molding a moldable substrate with the mold to form a molded substrate having a surface with at least one recess having the same shape; and (d) positioning a first of the plurality of microstructure components into said at least one recess. Each of the microstructure components may be formed by a masking and etching process, with the mold being formed by the same masking and etching process. The positioning step may consist of mixing the microstructure components with a fluid to form a slurry; and depositing the slurry on the surface of the molded substrate to cause the first of the plurality of microstructure components to self-align in the recess.

  • Patent number: 7014800
Abstract: Bristles for applying media are produced in that a filament, which can be cut into bristles, is extruded with a core which also determines the mechanical properties of the bristle. Cavities are formed at a separation from the center of the core and open towards the circumference of the filament which can be filled with medium from the outside, wherein the circumferential openings of the cavities are formed such that the medium is discharged only when the bristle is appropriately used. The cavities may also have a larger opening width and be covered by a layer or jacket. A bristle and brushes having such bristles produced in accordance with this method are also described.

  • Patent number: 7005094
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for use in forming an irregularly shaped part using in-mold labeling which includes receiving at least one of text and image information at a first computing unit. A mold is formed using a mold cutter controlled by a second computing unit based on the at least one of text information and image information. The mold has a cavity, an interior surface, and at least one aligning characteristic on the interior surface. A label is printed based on the at least one of text information and image information to provide the at least one decoration. The label is cut from a sheet of paper using a label cutter controlled by a third computing unit based on the at least one of text information and image information. The label is inserted into the cavity and aligned with the at least one aligning characteristic and moldable material is inserted into the mold to form the part and the label integral to each other.

  • Patent number: 6946087
Abstract: The invention discloses a method by which a fluid heat reactive resin system is formulated below the melting point of the resin. This permits the application of coatings and the formation of shapes and powders from the fluid heat reactive system. Liquefied gases are used to solvate resins so that curing agents, hardeners, pigments and flow control agents, and especially curing agents which are too reactive to be mixed with the resins above the melting point of the resins may be dispersed in the resins. After dispersion, the fluid heat reactive resin system remains in a deformable state under ambient conditions for a transient processing time. The transient processing time is established and maintained by the inclusion of plasticizers and high boiling solvents in the heat reactive resin system.

  • Patent number: 6899835
Abstract: A door or other entryway component of synthetic resin composite construction and closely resembling the appearance of stained real wood. Skin portions of doors and other structures have a surface layer of clear gel coat resin molded to include the texture of a wood grain surface. A subsurface layer adjacent the clear gel coat layer is of pigmented gel coat resin. A structural support layer of the skin is of reinforced resin. Skins of a door or similar article are mounted on frames, and dense micro porous resin foam is provided between the skins to form a solid structure such as a door. Moldings retaining glass panels in openings defined in the door or similar structure are attached to the skins by adhesively fastening the moldings to the skins. Fasteners mounted in the moldings so that there are no plugged holes in the exterior surfaces of the moldings are used to locate the moldings properly with respect to the skins by inserting the fasteners into predrilled holes in the skins.

  • Patent number: 6893597
Abstract: This method permits manufacturing EPDM rocket motor insulation in which carbon fibers are dispersed and immobilized in the EPDM polymeric matrix but are not excessively fractured or fragmentized, i.e., broken into smaller fragments, when encountering degrees of shear necessary to homogeneously or otherwise distribute or disperse the carbon fibers in the EPDM polymeric matrix. The method is substantially solvent free and is performed via distributive/reduced shear mixing to distribute the fragile carbon fibers into a rubber matrix without excessive damage. According to one embodiment, at least about 50% of the elastomer composition introduced into the mixing apparatus is liquid EPDM terpolymer having sufficiently low molecular weight and high diene content to permit dispersion of the carbon fibers in the EPDM without substantial fragmentation of the fibers.
