Abstract: A method of applying a cement mixture to an exposed matrix of intersecting walls of a honeycomb body is disclosed. The method may include the steps of providing an applicator, feeding the cement mixture into applicator, forcing the cement mixture to exit the applicator with a substantially uniform velocity, while depositing the cement mixture on the exposed matrix of the honeycomb body.

Abstract: Golf balls may include a first pole, a second pole, and a seam located between the first and second poles. Dimples are formed on a surface of the ball in a pattern that includes a plurality of repeating sectors around each pole of the ball. Abstract: A filter element for use in a smoking article and providing filtration of particulate material and gaseous components of mainstream smoke is provided. Abstract: In a moulding process for producing automobile parts, the female part (1) of a two part mould is sprayed with a metal such as stainless steel, tin, nickel-tin, copper or zinc. A thermal expansion compensation layer (3) is laid on the sprayed mould surface (1) and a layer of a resin impregnated fibrous material is applied thereto. The resultant assembly is cured and then removed from the female part of the mould or removed from the mould and then cured. The metal surface (2) of the composite part may be subject to further treatment such as polishing, coating and painting, or a combination of these. “Windows” may be produced by leaving areas of the mould part unsprayed with metal. In this way panels for lights, aerials or proximity sensors may be integrally formed.

Abstract: Described are metallized biaxially oriented polylactic acid (BOPLA) films with a novel formulation that exhibits a softer feel and quieter sound, without jeopardizing film making stability. It has been found that when these films are metallized, moisture barrier properties are surprisingly improved compared to conventional metallized BOPLA films. Specifically, the moisture barrier of the films may be 2.0 g/m2/day or less at 38° C. and 90% relative humidity. The films can be used, for example, in packaging applications. The films have characteristics that are beneficial to converting processes, are economical, and maintain bio-compostability similar to typical BOPLA films.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling curl in multi-layer webs. The method can include providing a coated web, bending the web to induce a strain or pre-curl in the web, and curing the coating to form a multi-layer web. Some coatings at least partially shrink when cured such that curing the coating induces a curl in the multi-layer web. Bending the web occurs prior to curing the coating, and the pre-curl can be configured to at least partially counteract the curl induced by curing to form a multi-layer web having a desired curvature. The system can include a curing section configured to cure a coating, and can further include a web bending section configured to bend the web to induce a strain in the web. The web bending section can be positioned upstream of the curing section such that the web is bent prior to the coating being cured.

Abstract: A multi-layer laminate having a textured surface comprises a thin, flexible, thermoformable polymeric base layer, and a layer of spaced part segments of an ink material screen printed in a pattern on a surface of the polymeric base material. The ink material comprises a UV curable screen printing ink which contains a resinous binder, a hardener, and a fine particulate filler. The ink is pressed through a screen having an emulsion with a thickness from about 40 to 50 microns. The ink segments are dried on the base layer by UV curing to a height and a hardness sufficient to form a heat stable textured surface adhered to the base layer. In one embodiment, the printed ink layer has a print height from about 25 to about 50 microns and resists deformation from subsequent thermoforming and/or injection molding. The ink segments meet automotive hardness and abrasion specification requirements.

A double-shot injection molding method can include molding a first shot of an injected material to contact a portion of a touch sensor and molding a second shot of an injected material to encapsulate at least the remaining portions of the touch sensor to form a touch surface at a substantially uniform distance from the touch sensor. Another molding method can include molding a coating on a touch sensor to having a substantially uniform thickness. The injection molded material can provide a substantially uniform capacitive dielectric for the device. The injection molded touch surface can be incorporated into an electronic mouse, a mobile telephone, a digital media player, or a computer.
Abstract: A clothes hanger includes a main unit and a box. The main unit has an opening thereon and includes a front side and a back side. The box is detachably embedded in the opening and includes a front side and a back side. The front side shape of the box is compatible with the front side shape of the main unit at the opening. The back side shape of the box is compatible with the back side shape of the main unit at the opening and different from the front side shape of the box. The thickness of the box is the same as the thickness of the main unit so that the box may be completely embedded in the main unit.
Abstract: A method for preparing a palladium-gold catalyst containing a titania extrudate is disclosed. The titania extrudate is produced by using a carboxyalkyl cellulose and a hydroxyalkyl cellulose as extrusion aids. The titania extrudate has improved processibility and/or mechanical properties. After calcination, the extrudate is used as a carrier for the palladium-gold catalyst. The catalyst is useful in producing vinyl acetate by oxidizing ethylene with oxygen in the presence of acetic acid.
Abstract: Disclosed are water-dispersible fibers derived from sulfopolyesters having a Tg of at least 25° C. The fibers may contain a single sulfopolyester or a blend of a sulfopolyester with a water-dispersible or water-nondispersible polymer. Also disclosed are multicomponent fibers comprising a water dispersible sulfopolyester having a Tg of at least 57° C. and a water non-dispersible polymer. The multicomponent fibers may be used to produce microdenier fibers. Fibrous articles may be produced from the water-dispersible fibers, multicomponent fibers, and microdenier fibers. The fibrous articles include water-dispersible and microdenier nonwoven webs, fabrics, and multilayered articles such as wipes, gauze, tissue, diapers, panty liners, sanitary napkins, bandages, and surgical dressings. Also disclosed is a process for water-dispersible fibers, nonwoven fabrics, and microdenier webs.
