The elastomeric precursor web is moved through the forming apparatus, wherein apertures are formed in the elastomeric precursor web material as the teeth on the second member penetrate the mating member forming an elastomeric apertured web. One embodiment of the apparatus includes a frame, a support surface attached to the frame, where the support surface includes a plurality of lowered portions, an oxygen-enrichment system for increasing the amount of oxygen in the combustible mixture, a burner attached to the frame opposite the support surface, where the burner supports a stable flame, and a film contacting the support surface, where the flame of the burner is directed towards the film to cause the film to be perforated. One embodiment of the method of flame perforating a polymeric film includes igniting an oxygen-enriched combustible mixture to form a stable flame, wherein the flame generated by the oxygen-enriched combustible mixture provides more uniform perforations.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method of producing a composite material suitable for the manufacturing of gypsum wallboard and ceiling tile applications, produced by co-calcining dihydrate (gypsum) to hemihydrate/stucco and cooking of unmodified/raw starch to cooked starch together. The method disclosed improves the standard wallboard and ceiling tile processing techniques thereby lowering the manufacturing cost of both products. The co-calcining of gypsum and the unmodified starch together eliminates the calcining of dihydrate ground gypsum (powder natural or synthetic gypsum) and cooking of unmodified starch (powder) separately prior to using the materials in the wallboard and ceiling tile formulations. The unmodified starch can be also added to the gypsum rocks during the grinding and calcining process to produce composite material. Furthermore, unmodified starch can be added to the wet synthetic gypsum such as FGD (flue gas desulphurization etc.), dried or dried and calcined together.

In one embodiment, the molded article is a multi-layer plastic fuel tank having a vapor barrier layer sandwiched between structural and/or adhesive layers and the cap has the same general construction and may be fixed or welded to the fuel tank over an opening through the tank. Advantageously, the cap is formed in the same process used to form the molded article and reduces the scrap or waste material by utilizing a portion of the flash which is removed from the molded article after it is formed. Therefore, the cost and time to produce a molded article and one or more caps is greatly reduced.
