  • Patent number: 11559956
Abstract: A method and structure for processing a plurality of prepreg sheets includes a conveyor assembly having a first conveyor, a second conveyor, and a processing zone positioned between the first and second conveyors. In an implementation, a plurality of prepreg sheets are advanced from a plurality of material supply creels into the processing zone by a first conveyor and a second conveyor turning in opposite directions. Within the processing zone, a compressive pressure is applied to the prepreg sheets by first pressure plates attached to first conveyor and second pressure plates attached to the second conveyor. A thermoplastic within the prepreg sheets is melted within the processing zone by a heater to consolidate the prepreg sheets into a consolidated laminate.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a biaxially oriented polypropylene film including at least one layer, which is constructed from propylene polymer B and a propylene polymer that has been recycled once. The method includes heat and melting propylene polymer B in a first extruder and heating a melting a propylene polymer A without a fraction of recycled material in a second extruder. The molten mass of the propylene polymer A is fed to two sides of the propylene polymer molten mass of B such that the propylene polymer A forms border regions of the film during the production process. The two border regions are then cut off after longitudinal and traverse stretching of the film, and melted and mixed together with the propylene polymer B and extruded to form a precursor film in the first extruder. The biaxially oriented polypropylene film comprising a propylene polymer that has been recycled only once is useful for producing capacitors.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a sheet from renewable raw materials. In the method, after mixing a composition to produce a sheet from renewable raw materials, this composition is applied to a conveyor belt. Protruding materials or unevennesses are eliminated with the aid of a device, preferably a simple doctor blade. Without supplying heat, the composition is then subjected to a first drying process on the conveyor belt, before the endless sheet created in this way is cut into sections. The sections are then passed on to final drying in a storage device. After complete drying, regions at the extremities of the sections that have been adversely affected by cutting up the endless sheet are removed from these sections and chopped up into chips. These chips are returned to the further production process in a final method step by feeding them into the composition for producing a sheet from renewable raw materials.

Abstract: Scrap material having both a thermoplastic polyurethane and a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol is recycled by blending the scrap material into a thermoplastic polyurethane composition and preparing a barrier membrane from theblended material. The virgin thermoplastic polyurethane and the thermoplastic polyurethane of the scrap material are polymerized using at least about 60 percent by weight, based on the weight of the polyurethane produced, of a polyester diol having a weight average molecular weight of at least about 500 and having from four to five carbon atoms between substantially all of the ester [—O—C(═O)—] groups. The blend material containing the virgin thermoplastic urethane and the scrap material is formed into a layer of a barrier membrane. The resulting membrane has a haze of no more than about 12%.

  • Patent number: 6764618
Abstract: A process for manufacturing (U,Pu)O2 mixed oxide nuclear fuel pellets. In a first blending operation, PuO2 is mixed with a UO2 powder and/or fuel manufacturing scrap, forming a first blend. The first blend is micronized and sieved to form a conditioned first blend. Non-free-flowing UO2 is selected as a second portion of UO2. The second portion of UO2 is mechanically granulated to form granulated free-flowing UO2. In a second blending operation, the conditioned first blend is further mixed with the granulated free-flowing UO2 and possibly scrap. Lubricants and/or poreformers are added. The blend is pelletized and sintered. During granulation, the non free-flowing UO2 is compressed to form tablets. The tablets are then crushed until a free-flowing crushed material has been formed. At least one portion of this free flowing crushed material is used in the second blending operation.

  • Patent number: 6746309
Abstract: Waste water generated by processing a semiconductor is filtered to be cleaned. Removable matters trapped by a first filter film are used as a second filter film. Filtering capciity is maintained by applying an external force such as bubbles to the second filter film. When removable matters are mixed with the filtered water, the filtered water is recirculated again to the tank in which the waste water is stored, and after it is checked that a desired inclusion rate has been reached filtration is started again.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing material suitable for the construction of a component of a fuel cell, such as a flow field plate or electrode. Uncured resin impregnated flexible graphite sheet is ground into particles. Without re-expanding the particles, and without adding further resin to the particles, the particles are molded into the form of the desired material. The material is then cured. Abstract: The method involves making a hollow blow molded thermoplastic article having an integral handle. An unblown preform of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is inserted into a blow mold and thereafter stretched by a stretch rod. Blow gas is then injected into the interior of the preform when the blow mold is closed and the preform is at a stretch temperature. After the preform is blown into the shape of the bottle in the mold, blow gas is discharged from the stretch rod onto an interior wall surface where the handle is to be formed. Movable mold segments are then advanced within the blow mold from a first retracted position to a second position thereby compressing an interior wall surface of the article into contact with a facing interior wall surface of the bottle to bond the surfaces at an elevated temperature and form an integral handle extending from the exterior wall of the blow molded article.

  • Patent number: 6296035
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for removing a coating from synthetic resin products, such as an automobile bumper, to obtain improved coating removal rate and improved productivity. A resin material having a coating applied thereto is rolled between a resin-side roll and a coating-side roll which rotate at different peripheral speeds. A shear stress is applied to the interface between the resin material and the coating, thereby removing the coating from the resin material. Pressing means press the coating-side roll towards the resin-side roll with a predetermined force. The resin-side roll and the coating-side roll apply a normally fixed shear stress between the resin material and the coating, ensuring stable coating removal and improved productivity.
