  • Patent number: 5494427
Abstract: A hydraulic pressure cylinder incorporating a double-rod type piston, for example an injection cylinder has a pair of pressure sensors for detecting the hydraulic pressures of fore and rear oil chambers. are respectively detected by a pair of pressure sensors 4, A detected pressure value Pd is subsequently obtained from the difference between respective oil chamber pressure measurements Pdf, Pdr based on the outputs respectively from pressure sensors. The detected pressure value Pd of period Ts during which detected pressure value Pd becomes zero theoretically, is calculated in advance. The calculated detected pressure value Pd is stored as correction value A. At the time of pressure sensing, the detected pressure value Pd is corrected according to correction value A, whereby the accurate zero adjustment point may always be maintained without being influenced by a temperature drift, enabling an accurate and high-precision pressure sensing.

Abstract: A control system utilizing a programmable controller for an injection molding machine in which the controller is periodically scanned in response to input signals to produce output control signals is provided with an impulse response filter arrangement. The impulse response filter senses a plurality of current and past sensor input signals to accurately predict the occurrence of a variable triggering event which will in fact be sensed by a sensor. A predictive sensor signal is then generated which is inputted to the controller in advance of the occurrence of the triggering event and at a time which corresponds to the processor scan time so that the controller generates the desired output at the precise time the triggering event occurs thus eliminating controller response latency from the control system.

  • Patent number: 5489402
Abstract: A method for regulating the thickness of several individual layers of an extruded multilayered plastic web involves melting at least two currents of molten plastic in different extruders and bringing the individual molten currents together in an adapter wherein the currents are superimposed into a laminated extruded multilayer stream. The extruded multilayer stream is supplied to a die slot. Devices are provided for controlling the flow of individual currents of molten plastic by modifying their sections before the currents are brought together in the adapter. In order to regulate the thickness distribution, the thickness of the individual layers of the multilayered extruded stream, which correspond to the different currents of molten plastics, is determined before the stream leave the die slot; that is, while the currents are still in a plastic state.

  • Patent number: 5366365
Abstract: A process for making porous flexible pipes from two feed streams containing a thermoplastic material and a thermoset material, in which the feed streams are delivered to a die head extruder in a substantially compaction-free and segregation-free manner to insure that the feed composition in the extruder is substantially the same as the initial feed composition. The process can be automated so that an operator can manufacture porous flexible pipes of desired porosity and other rheological and mechanical characteristics by simply entering a command which will simultaneously adjust the process parameters such as the temperature and/or pressure inside the extruder, and the post-extrusion tension to meet the special need.

  • Patent number: 5324459
Abstract: A screw extruder having a cylinder, an extrusion head, a screw in the cylinder and a motor for driving the screw in rotation has insert members which extend into the cylinder to effect plastification and homogenization of the material being extruded. The web of the screw is provided with annular recesses into which the insert members project. Some of the insert members are stationary, in the form of pins projecting radially into the cylinder, while others are movable so as to vary the extent of their projection into the cylinder. The movable insert members may be pins extending radially into the cylinder and movable radially, rotatable threaded pins extending tangentially into the cylinder, rotatable pins extending tangentially into the cylinder and having non-circular portions in the cylinder, or sector-shaped discs which are movable pivotally.

  • Patent number: 5320797
Abstract: For the continuous manufacture of a compound pipe with a pipe socket including a smooth internal tube and an external tube provided with transverse grooves and welded together with the latter, an external tube and an internal tube are extruded, the latter into the external tube. While the normal compound pipe is manufactured, gas is blown at a slight overpressure into the space beteen the external tube and the internal tube. When the pipe socket is produced, this space is vented so that a full-surface bearing of the internal tube against the external tube is achieved, to which end the internal tube is acted upon from its inside by gas under pressure.

  • Patent number: 5316701
Abstract: A method of continuously forming an integrally molded structure in a multiaxis rotational molding operation including the steps of rotating a multimold section mold assembly about at least three axes. A first freshly formed polymerizable mixture is flowed over surfaces of an enclosed mold cavity within the multisection assembly. Flowing of the first mixture over the cavity surfaces and formation of a first resin therefrom is monitored through optical fibers extending through the mold sections. Second and third freshly formed polymerizable mixtures are flowed over resin formed within the mold cavity. Flowing of the second and third mixtures and formation of resins therefrom are monitored through optical fibers extending through the mold sections. The rotation of the multisection mold assembly is continued throughout the modling operation. Each axis rotation of the multisection mold assembly is monitored individually.

  • Patent number: 5309369
Abstract: A monitoring method capable of properly collectively managing the operating states and operation records of a group of injection molding machines. Monitor data sets delivered from the individual injection molding machines are cyclically detected by means of a processor of a monitor unit, and a plurality of sets of up-to-date monitor data for the individual injection molding machines are renewably loaded into a plurality of data tables. When the preset time of a timer associated with any one of the injection molding machines is up, or when the current injection frequency reaches a predetermined frequency, it is concluded that the monitor data output timing is reached, and whether the monitor data should be printed or displayed on a screen is further determined.

  • Patent number: 5298206
Abstract: An automated system for casting hollow fiber membranes into a variety of prescribed shapes, including spiral, linear, circular and rectangular. The system also has the capability to change the configuration during casting, which increases productivity. A co-extrusion die is rotated over a stationary coagulation bath A computer is used to control the motion of the die to make a membrane with the desired shape The nozzle is oriented in a manner that will compensate for distortions that occur in wall thickness in the area of a bend. In addition, the nozzle's annulus is offset to make the leading portion of the annulus slightly thicker and the trailing portion thinner at the point where the fluids exit the nozzle, which results in a uniformly symmetric wall thickness. A system embodying the invention includes X, Y and .theta.-directional servomotors 1A-1C (FIG. 1), each of which is coupled to an associated position encoder 2A-2C.
