Abstract: The woven tubing is continuously advanced and is opened and backed from the inside in a certain region, in which plastics material tubing which is larger in diameter than the woven tubing is extruded and oriented around and is forced in a soft condition against the woven tubing and then cooled.
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for blow molding a thermoplastic container. The blow molded container is fabricated conventionally from a downwardly descending thermoplastic extruded parison tubing which passes between sets of separated mold halves. One of the sets of mold halves is adapted to accommodate an insert positioned on a retaining wand. In another embodiment the wand is supported by means located externally of said mold halves and in some cases axially with respect to the molds. When the molds close and the parison is conventionally blow molded the wand continues to support the insert while at the same time extends beyond the container so blow molded. The insert may be, for instance, a nozzle for a thermoplastic bottle having a cap molded thereabout having break away features whereby the cap may be removed.
Abstract: A heat-shrinkable multilayer film suitable for use in the packaging of a frozen poultry, includes a first outer layer comprising a blend of a propylene-ethylene copolymer having a high isotactic molecular structure with less than about 6% by weight ethylene and having a melt flow of from about 1.5 to about 18 decigrams per minute; a (butene-1)-ethylene copolymer having a high isotactic molecular structure with less than about 10% by weight being ethylene and having a melt flow of from about 0.1 to about 5.

Abstract: A package is provided comprising an uprightly unstable thermoplastic bottle having a generally convex bottom and a peripheral sidewall extending upwardly therefrom and a base directly contacting and loosely supporting the bottle in an upright position the package further comprises predecorated heat shrunk annular label means in tight unitizing peripheral engagement with externally exposed surfaces of the base and sidewall for securely and integrally attaching said bottle and said base, the means being substantially the sole means for such attachment.
Abstract: A continuous process for preparation of a multilayer film from thermoplastic material comprising processing in an extruder, feeding into a film blowing die having several concentric slots, stretching, blowing, bonding and winding up wherein the layers are bonded together when the exterior layer has been oriented to the desired extent in the longitudinal direction by stretching and the interior layer in the transverse direction by blowing by means of gas medium and, optionally, in the longitudinal direction by stretching, but before any of the material layers has been cooled to a temperature which corresponds to the frost point of the material in question and otherwise before any of the material has lost its viscous flowability, and wherein one or more interior layers may be used.Furthermore, an apparatus for the performance of the above process is provided by means of which a double layer film is prepared.
Abstract: The method of manufacturing a composite pipe includes extruding an inner pipe from a polyethylene or polyethylene copolymer mix having a cross-linking agent such as peroxide homogeneously dispersed therein. The extrusion takes place below the decomposition temperature of the agent to prevent cross-linking. Thereafter, an outer jacket is positioned over the inner pipe and the composite pipe is heat treated, usually in coil form, at a temperature to cause cross-linking of the inner pipe. A positive gas pressure is maintained in the pipe during heat treating at least until the cross-linking has progressed sufficiently to prevent the pipe from collapsing. The outer jacket acts as the reinforcement and maintains the shape and inside diameter of the inner pipe during processing under pressure.
