Confined Between Coaxial, Vibrating Annular Members Patents (Class 267/141.2)
  • Patent number: 6216833
Abstract: A vibration damper for mounting on a structure for damping out resonance frequencies on the structure has a bushing assembly consisting of inner and outer coaxial spaced metal sleeves joined together by an intervening elastomeric member. A metal mass is secured to the outer metal sleeve of the bushing assembly and oscillates about the fixed inner sleeve upon flexing of the elastomeric member. A fastener extends through the bore of the inner sleeve for rotatably suspending the damper on the structure. An extension arm is secured to the inner sleeve and extends radially outwardly and passes between a pair of nubs formed on an outer annulus of the elastomeric member to prevent excessive rotation and erratic motion of the mass due to non-translational forces on the structure.

  • Patent number: 6213455
Abstract: A vibration isolator which can attain both a reduction in the vibration transmitting power and superior durability of an elastic stopper which has a compact stopper structure. This vibration isolator comprises an inner member; a mounting member having a tubular portion which is disposed outside of and at a distance from the inner member approximately coaxially with the inner member; a rubber elastic body disposed between and connecting integrally the inner member and the tubular member and having an axially through cavity portion; and an elastic stopper projecting from an inner circumferential surface of the tubular portion in a manner to face the inner member by way of the cavity portion. This tubular portion has side stoppers which are disposed at both the axial ends of a portion where the elastic stopper is formed, in a manner to face the inner member, and which form therebetween a concave portion depressed in a radially outward direction.

  • Patent number: 6170812
Abstract: A slipper bushing comprises radially inner, intermediate and outer generally cylindrical members. The intermediate member includes an axial bearing surface at an end thereof. Elastomeric material is disposed between the intermediate and outer members. A generally cylindrical polymeric radial bearing sleeve is disposed between the inner and intermediate members and has a radially inner surface nonrotatably fixed relative to a radially outer surface of the inner member and a radially outer slip surface adapted to rotatably slip relative to a radially inner surface of the intermediate member. An elastomeric seal has an annular portion with opposed first and second axial bearing surfaces. The seal first axial bearing surface sealingly engages the intermediate member axial bearing surface and is nonrotatably fixed relative thereto. An annular polymeric slip ring has opposed first and second axial bearing surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6168144
Abstract: A hydraulically damping elastomer bearing comprises an outer bearing sleeve as well as an elastomer element arranged therein and a bearing core which is held by the elastomer element. Between the bearing core and the bearing sleeve chambers are formed and filled with fluid, which chambers are interconnected via at least one channel. In order to achieve progressive damping characteristics in the impact region, between the bearing core and the inside wall of the bearing sleeve there is arranged in at least one of the chambers an inflexible, hydraulically supported displacement element. In the unloaded state, this displacement element is at a predetermined distance from a reference surface. Between the displacement element and a component bearing the latter there is formed a displacement chamber of small height between the displacement surfaces, the displacement chamber being in communication with one of the further chambers via at least one throttling orifice.
