  • Patent number: 4354397
Abstract: A shock absorber apparatus connected in series relationship respective to the polished rod and bridle of a pumpjack unit. The shock absorber includes a housing within which there is supported a plurality of resilient packer members stacked in sandwiched relationship. The packer members have an axial passageway formed therethrough, with the passageway of each packer member being aligned with one another, so that the polished rod is telescopingly received therethrough. The bottom of the housing is supported by the bridle, while the polished rod is supported by a plate member which bears against the uppermost packer member. This places all of the resilient packer members in compression, with the force of the compression being proportional to the weight of the sucker rod.

  • Patent number: 4285616
Abstract: The disclosed invention is an elastomeric compression member having particular utility as a marine fender. It is comprised of two elastomeric offset legs joined at the knee and extending therefrom in opposite directions. When compressive forces are applied to the feet of the member, the member initially compresses by roll compression, where the two legs roll around the knee to provide the member with an overall cylindrical configuration. After roll compression is complete, snub compression, compression of the resulting cylinder occurs.

  • Patent number: 4262886
Abstract: An elastically yieldable block structure comprising a block of elastomer interconnecting two armatures and defining at least two cavities which are filled with liquid and communicate with each other. One cavity is a main center cavity which is provided in the block and has walls which have a high resistance to the inner pressure of the liquid and the other cavity is a lateral cavity which communicates with the center cavity. At least a part of the lateral walls of the lateral cavity or cavities has a low resistance to the inner pressure of the liquid.

  • Patent number: 4195826
Abstract: In the illustrated embodiments, an elastomer body has a relatively thin metal layer overlying the elastomer surface to be loaded so as to prevent adhesion at the elastomer surface in spite of a long period of dwell in contact with a relatively more rigid cooperating part such as a hard rubber stop. In a basic form, a thin metal sleeve may encircle a cylindrical elastomer body. The outer surface of the sleeve may be grooved for extra adhesion resistance. In a further development, the sleeve is formed as a helical wire spring which may be confined between two flanges integral with the elastomer body.

  • Patent number: 4147375
Abstract: A central articulation with pivot axles standing perpendicularly to one another for a self-driving articulated vehicle comprising two parts which are mutually moveable with respect to one another, whereby the steering is brought about by mutual pivoting of the two vehicle parts with respect to one another about a vertical axle of the central articulation and the adjustment of the vehicle to the unevenness of the ground is brought about by a mutual pendulum course of movement of the two vehicle parts with respect to one another about an axle which is horizontal in the longitudinal direction and a restoring device counteracts the pendulum course of movement of the front car and of the rear car by means of compression springs. Rubber hollow springs are prestressed by means of a tensioning device.

  • Patent number: 4141528
Abstract: A sound dampening fastening element includes a sound dampening body, an anchoring member and a support member. The dampening body is prism-shaped and formed of a resilient material. The anchoring member has a head and a shank with the head and a portion of the shank embedded within the dampening body and the remaining portion of the shank extending outwardly from the dampening body. The support member is partly embedded within the dampening body and the remaining part extends outwardly from the opposite side of the dampening body from which the shank extends. The support member has a shaped configuration with wall sections within the dampening body combining to form an opening through which the shank extends. The diameter of the opening is greater than the diameter of the shank but smaller than the diameter of the head of the anchoring member. The part of the support member extending outwardly from the dampening body includes openings for receiving a belt-like support element and also a threaded opening.

  • Patent number: 4054291
Abstract: A phonograph record turntable assembly comprises a rotatable turntable having on its upper surface a plurality of elastically flexible, upwardly dished record support members which are engageable, at their peripheries with the undersurface of a phonograph record for each defining an enclosed space therebetween, and each record support member has at least one air passage opening from the respective enclosed space to the atmosphere. When a warped or distorted phonograph record is placed on the aforesaid turntable assembly, the several elastically flexible support members conform to the shape of the undersurface of the record for uniformly supporting the latter, and vibrations of the record are damped by the viscous resistance to flow of air through the air passages of the record support members into and out of the enclosed spaces defined between such support members and the phonograph record.
