Patent number: 10232451Abstract: The present invention generally relates to fasteners for securing an object to produce a straight line cut of the secured object, including a square cut of a secured pipe. More particularly, the present invention relates to fasteners for securing objects of various sizes and/or shapes where the object may be in almost any location. The fastener has a gap to guide a saw blade to produce a straight-line cut of the secured object. In some instances, the fastener may retain both pieces of a cut workpiece in place after the workpiece is cut. In some instances, the fastener may prevent the saw blade from cutting beyond the fastener.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2018Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Inventor: Brandon T. Barrett

Patent number: 4686925Abstract: An apparatus for repairing boat hulls comprising a rack mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis. A beam is cantilevered outwardly from the rack, and a hoist mechanism is mounted for travel on the beam. A boat resting on a trailer is moved partially within the rack and the hoist mechanism located on the cantilevered end of the beam elevates the boat from the trailer. The hoist mechanism is then moved along the beam to position the boat within the rack. A series of hull clamping braces that are connected to the rack are positioned in engagement with the hull and complement the shape of the hull. The boat is lowered onto the hull braces, and a series of upper clamping braces that are connected to the rack are brought into engagement with the upper surface of the hull to clamp the boat to the rack. In some cases, side clamping assemblies can also be used to clamp the sides of the hull to the rack. By rotating the rack, the hull can be inverted so repairs or modifications can be readily made on the hull.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1985Date of Patent: August 18, 1987Inventor: Andrew G. Stuck

Patent number: 4171799Abstract: An assembly jig including a flexible binder that encircles an assembly of frame members having mitered ends, the binder being attached to a draw bar guided along a guide section of a main support. The support is attached to an angle member against which two of the frame members meet to form a corner of the frame, and the guide section is in the same plane as the frame and extends at an obtuse angle away from each of the two frame members that form the corner. A threaded rod journaled in the main support engages a matching threaded opening in the draw bar to pull the draw bar along the guide section as the rod is turned, thereby exerting tension on the binder to draw all of the mitered frame members into proper alignment and to hold them in that position under pressure while they are being permanently joined to one another by glue or other suitable means.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1978Date of Patent: October 23, 1979Inventor: George A. Patent number: 4047710Abstract: A framing form and clamp includes a support or base having a plurality of guideways for mounting framing blocks. A belt cooperating with a ratchet assembly surrounds the blocks. In forming and clamping a frame, frame molding strips are associated with the appropriate framing blocks of the framing form and clamp, the size and number of the strips depending upon the dimension and shape of the desired frame. The belt is tightly wound around the framing blocks to secure the strips while the corners of the adjacent strips are permanently connected to form the frame.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1976Date of Patent: September 13, 1977Inventor: John Wilson
