With Means To Bias Member Into Locked Position Patents (Class 269/170)
  • Patent number: 4468018
Abstract: A device for holding a log for sawing comprises a post having fixed thereto a pair of downwardly pointed spikes carried by a plate. A sleeve is slidable on the post and carries four upwardly pointed spikes on a plate and displaced a greater distance from the post 1 than are the spikes fixed to the post. The log is thus held in cantilevered fashion and the weight of the log causes the sleeve to jam in position against the post. The sleeve is provided with a spring to stop is sliding down the post when not in use. The post may be held in a sleeve hammered into the ground or it may be provided with a base so the device is free-standing.

  • Patent number: 4291868
Abstract: Clamping apparatus for clamping a work piece onto a work table remote from the edges of the work table. Apparatus includes a main support member and first and second engaging members spaced along and extending from the support member so that outer ends of the engaging members cooperate with the work table. Jacking apparatus cooperates with one of the engaging members to move the engaging member relative to the support member. This clamps the work piece onto the work table with a clamping surface associated with the main support item. Each engaging means can be quickly adjusted to accommodate work pieces and work tables of different depths. The clamping surface can be resiliently mounted relative to the support member to increase versatility of clamping apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4057239
Abstract: A clamp usable as a vise has a fixed clamping member and a movable clamping member movable toward and away from the fixed clamping member along a guide. A tippable locking element has a hole through which passes an elongated locking element that extends in the direction of displacement of the clamping member. The tippable element can be displaced between a slide position wherein the hole loosely surrounds the elongated element and allows it to move relative to the tippable element and a locked position with the tippable element canted and the elongated element wedged in the hole. Furthermore once the tippable element is in the canted position it can further be displaced so as to bring extra clamping force to bear on a workpiece between the two clamping members.
