  • Patent number: 9216484
Abstract: An adjustable work holding system can quickly adjust for different sized work pieces and can grip components with a small, about 0.100 inch, grip on the material, eliminating wasted material. Adjustable jaws can be mounted on a base plate and tightened into a desired position. Grippers are attached to the jaws and extend only about 0.100 inch over the jaws to provide a gripping surface. The grippers can be resiliently held open by a resilient member, such as an O-ring. A drive bolt for each gripper can be tightened to move the grippers closer together and grip material. The grippers provide strong holding forces and pulls the work piece down, which allows for more aggressive machining operations as compared to conventional work holding systems.

Abstract: This is a system/method of clamping or securing or connecting one or more objects together in a wide variety of ways with the main means being a specifically designed bar and mated slot combination. While the main embodiment is the "Handy Table" project, there are many other ramifications of this invention. The bar and slot design can be altered to perform many other tasks where some way of attaching one or more objects to another need be accomplished. The main embodiment is, in my estimation, the most advanced type of work or project surface. The combination of a tri-sectional work surface, adjustable in a variety of ways, in size, in tilting, in multi-angle clamping capability, in precision height adjustment, and in the ability to transport the object being worked on easily, plus the addition of accessaries that enhance the overall capabilities of the "Handy Table", make it useable by many different professions and by the average project worker, be it man or woman, young or old.

  • Patent number: 5103704
Abstract: The clamping device has a stationary, substantially vertical clamping face (5) for the workpiece, arranged at right angles with respect to the feed direction of the saw band. A movable clamping jaw (8) is horizontally movable with respect thereto, the clamping jaw (8) having a substantially vertical clamping face (9). The movable clamping jaw (8) is formed as a clamping bridge (7), reaching over the machine table. The fixed clamping face (5) also reaches over the machine table, while leaving a passage for the saw band. The ends of the clamping bridge are guided horizontally beside the machine bench, for clampable adjustment perpendicular to the clamping faces (5, 9), the clamping bridge (7) being pivotable on guide blocks (22, 23) slidable on guide rails next to and below the table (2) of the saw, so that the clamping bridge can clamp a workpiece (3) between the clamping faces, by a toggle connection to a handle, or release the movable bridge.

  • Patent number: 5096170
Abstract: A picture framer's tool of the type used to drive brads into picture frames shown in U.S. Pat. No. 4,763,825 is modified so that it may also be used as a clamp. The tool has two jaws, namely an inner adjustably positioned along a sleeve and a second jaw on the outer end of a rod reciprocable within the sleeve and extending beyond the outer end of said sleeve. The tool has a lever pivoted on a handle which causes the rod to reciprocate. One improvement is the provision of a wing screw or other fastener on the handle which engages the rod so that it is fixed in position. Another improvement is the provision of attachments for each jaw, one of which may be spring-loaded. Attachments include hammer heads, points, swivels and the like.

  • Patent number: 5088682
Abstract: A device for holding facia boards in position for attachment to a building is disclosed. The device includes an L-shaped bracket having one leg adapted for removable attachment to a building's roof with a second leg depending down adjacent the position at which the facia board is to be attached. A support member is slidably mounted to the depending leg and supports the facia board in position for attachment to the building. The support is adjustable to accomodate facia boards of different widths.

  • Patent number: 5076552
Abstract: An adjustable vise includes a toggle plier having first and second handles pivotally joined together to move relative to one another, a fixed jaw mounted to extend upwardly from one end of the first handle, a mounting bar pivotally joining the handles together and extending laterally in one direction from the handles generally perpendicular thereto, and a moveable jaw mounted on the bar to slide therealong and to extend upwardly to a spaced-apart position from the fixed jaw so that when the handles are moved apart, the jaws are caused to move away from one another and when the handles are moved together, the jaws are caused to move toward one another. A locking mechanism is mounted on the moveable jaw and is operable to selectively lock the moveable jaw in place on the mounting bar to thereby prevent sliding movement of the moveable jaw, or to unlock the moveable jaw from the mounting bar to allow sliding movement with respect thereto.

  • Patent number: 4949946
Abstract: The quick-acting clamping device for clamping preferably identically shaped workpieces has a base part (1) comprising an elongate yoke plate (2) and a fixed jaw (3) at each of the end faces. Into a longitudinally oriented guide slot (6) in the base part (1) is inserted a clamping block (7) which is longitudinally displaceable between the jaws (3), can be locked on the base part (1) at any desired point in the displacement range by means of a set screw (36) and has a side part on which a clamping head (8), held by means of a connecting link guide, is longitudinally displaceably mounted. The clamping head (8) can be moved in the clamping direction (C) towards a jaw (3) by means of an excentric part (22) rotatably mounted in the slide part in order to hold the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4834352
Abstract: A spring clamp with a lower clamping jaw, an upper clamping jaw, a first handle portion extending rearwardly from and integrally connected with the lower clamping jaw, a second handle portion extending rearwardly from the upper clamping jaw, the upper clamping jaw having a slide-housing integrally connected to the second handle portion, and an L-shaped bracket having a first leg portion having a free end for sliding cooperation with the slide-housing and a second leg portion extending at right angles to another end of the first leg portion. The slide-housing has a first cooperating means and the first leg portion has second cooperating means, the first and second cooperating means being operatively associated to allow for the sliding movement of the first leg portion with respect to the slide-housing and for preventing the escape of the first leg portion from sliding engagement with the slide-housing means.

  • Patent number: 4817693
Abstract: An extension table for a machine tool of the type that includes a machine table that defines a reference plane includes a rigid, straight beam having a lower surface. A ledge is mounted to the lower surface of an outer portion of the beam to extend outwardly from at least one side of the beam, and this ledge defines a continuous upper surface which is substantially coplanar with the lower surface of the beam. The inner portion of the beam is mounted on the machine table with the beam positioned above the machine table such that the outer portion of the beam is cantilevered from the machine table with the lower surface of the beam substantially coplanar with the machine table. The outer portion of the beam is then supported against deflection by a support leg. The beam is sufficiently rigid to ensure that the upper surface of the ledge is substantially coplanar with the machine table.
