  • Patent number: 4083546
Abstract: A support arm is adjustable in length and is affixed to the center of a bottom cross arm to form a T-shaped structure. A pair of clamping devices are affixed to the opposite ends of the bottom cross arm and to the opposite ends of a top cross arm of the same length. The clamping devices in closed position support the cross arms in next-adjacent relation to clamp a rug between them with the rug resting on the support arm. In open position, the clamping devices support the cross arms in spaced parallel relation to position the rug therebetween. A plurality of mounting members are affixed to the bottom cross arm and the support arm.

  • Patent number: 4083548
Abstract: Described herein is an adjustable clamp quickly and easily installed. The clamp comprises a mounting bar upon which is mounted two clamping jaws. One jaw is fixedly mounted and the other slidably mounted on the bar. The slidable jaw has a clamping pad affixed to a rod capable of reciprocating motion. From a retracted position, the rod can be advanced to bring the clamp pad in close contact with a workpiece being clamped by means of a toggle mechanism which locks the rod in its advanced position.

  • Patent number: 4061321
Abstract: A novel holder for work pieces, particularly for holding picture frame pieces in which the adjoining mitered ends of the frame pieces are brought together. The inventive concept resides in providing a mechanism which permits primary adjustment of the jaws in such manner that the pieces are easy to insert and wherein as the last increment of movement of the jaws they tightly clamp the pieces and move them endwise toward each other in perfect alignment and after nailing; the mechanism also quickly releases the joined frame pieces because of the electrical toggle linkage employed.

  • Patent number: 4047709
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for supporting or clamping bodies of irregular shape, (particularly large workpieces) comprising a clamping jaw, in the form of a box with axially moveable plungers extending from its work face, said plungers being supported in different axial positions, determined by contact with the surface of the workpiece, by a solid medium within the box. Known apparatus do not have positive means for locking the plungers in their positions. The invention provides a simple and effective locking arrangement in which the solid medium is a multiplicity of hard balls, each plunger is formed with ball-receiving cavities, and application of a pressure to the balls is transmitted via the ball-receiving cavities to lock said plungers.

  • Patent number: 4046363
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pipe clamping tool assembly that may be extended to an open position such that a portion of a pipe may be laid across a lower first member, after which said pipe clamping tool assembly may be folded to a closed position wherein a second member overlies the inserted pipe and is aligned directly over said lower first member, and by actuating a lever arm the second member is engaged and pressed downwardly such that said second member and said first member cooperate to squeeze and compress the pipe so as to clamp the same and effectively close the pipe and prevent fluid from passing through the clamped area.

  • Patent number: 3978764
Abstract: Disclosed is a key making machine with a sample vise for receiving and retaining a sample key to be duplicated and a blank vise for receiving and retaining a key blank. When the sample key is positioned properly a path of electrical conduction is provided through it. A similar conductive path is established through the key blank when it is properly positioned. A series circuit through the key and blank prevents operation of the machine if the sample key or key blank is not properly positioned. During each cycle of operation, a support table completes one cycle of reciprocating linear motion. Toggles responsive to the motion of the table close the vises shortly after the table begins to move. Positioning towers near the vises support slidably mounted rigid fingers that project toward the vises to aid in the positioning of the key and the blank. Following closure of the vises, the towers respond to the motion of the table and move to a standby position to facilitate the cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 3971552
Abstract: A quick release pipe vise having a base plate with a set of lower jaws secured thereto. An upper jaw frame is pivotally secured to the base plate and carries a screw adjustable upper jaw which can be brought into clamping relation with the lower jaw when the upper jaw frame is locked in its upper position. An over dead center linkage extends from the upper part of the frame to the base plate and when in over center locked position rigidly secures the upper jaw frame in its upright operative position. A handle on the over center linkage permits the linkage to be moved out of its locked over center position to pivot the upper jaw frame away from its upright position to thus move the upper jaw away from the lower jaw to release pipe clamped therebetween.

  • Patent number: 3964738
Abstract: A pair of work engaging jaws of a clamp device are interconnected by linkages forming part of a manually operable force multiplying mechanism. A movable work engaging element mounted by one of the jaws, is actuated by a grip lever from a retracted position into engagement with a workpiece. An over-center linkage transmits the actuating force against the resistance of a spring to prevent return of the grip lever from its actuated position. A release lever is actuated to cam the grip lever and retract the work engaging element.
