  • Patent number: 7980538
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention is directed to a jig for holding a workpiece using forces provided by a clamp having a first clamping member, a second clamping member, and a connecting member operable for moving the first clamping member relative to the second clamping member. The jig includes an elongated base member and an elongated support member extending upward from the base member. The support member has a clamp engagement surface for engaging the first clamping member of the clamp, a generally vertically oriented upper surface disposed opposite of the clamp engagement surface for engaging a lateral side of the workpiece, a generally horizontally oriented support surface extending from the support member disposed below the upper surface for engaging a bottom side of the workpiece, and an aperture sized and arranged to accept the connecting member of the clamp.

Abstract: The present invention describes an adaptive clamp width adjusting device (200) for use in an integrated circuit package process machine. The device (200) includes a travel component (210) and a fixed component (310). The travel component (210) carries a clamp (220a,220b) with an adjustable width and a rotary screw (230a) operable for such adjustment by a driven wheel (232). The fixed component (310), mounted on a base plate (312), includes a motor (320) and a drive wheel (324) attacked to the motor shaft. When the device (200) is in a clamp width conversion station (40a), the travel component (210) is aligned above the fixed component (310) so that when the base plate (312) is raised and the drive wheel (324) engages the driven wheel (232), the clamp width is operable to be adjusted by the motor (320) according to a width of a workpiece (W).

Abstract: The invention relates to a clamping device, in particular for clamping a workpiece, comprising a support body 10 including a clamping member 20 for applying an axial force at a longitudinal end thereof and a limiting member 30 substantially in the region of the opposite longitudinal end of the support body 10, and at least one expansion region 40, 50. In this arrangement, a ball clamping set 60, 70 is arranged in each case in the at least one expansion region 40, 50, the at least one ball clamping set 60, 70 including at least one first ball 80 having a first diameter and at least two second balls 90, 95 having a second diameter, the first diameter being larger than the second diameter and the at least one ball clamping set 60, 70 cooperating with the clamping member 20. In addition, the balls 80, 90, 95 of the ball clamping set 60, 70 are in contact so as to convert the axial force of the clamping member 20 by means of the ball clamping set 60, 70 into a radial force which acts towards the support body 10.

Abstract: A disc holding apparatus including a plurality of movable holding claws, which have a holding section abutting to the outer circumference of a wafer having a notch and are arranged in the circumference direction of the wafer. The wafer is held by having each holding section on the inner edge side of each movable holding claw abut to the outer circumference of the wafer, thereby, at the time of detecting the notch by a sensor including a light source and a light receiving section, even when one of the holding sections abuts to the outer circumference of the wafer at a part where the notch exists, light from the light source is permitted to enter the light receiving section through the notch without being blocked by the holding section. Even when the wafer is held at the part where the notch exists, the wafer is not required to be correctly held again and throughput is improved with a shortened process time.
