  • Patent number: 11964364
Abstract: A spring-loaded waste shield and cleaning aid has a moving block, a fixed block, a blocking flange, and at least one spring and linear bearing that form an elastically biased friction fitting plate. When inserted between vise jaws, the friction fitting plate will compress and expand so that a work piece can be clamped in the vise or removed without the plate falling out. The friction-fitting plate provides a work-underlying shelf that: shields function-critical vise components from machining waste and is readily cleaned; supports and positions a work piece; will catch small parts, tools, or the like accidentally dropped onto the shelf for easy retrieval; and is sacrificial in the event of accidental impact or contact with a machining tool or other mishap. In some embodiments, parallelepiped geometry, a socket head shoulder bolt, and appropriately sized components ensure that force overload applied by a vise does not damage the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6349929
Abstract: The present invention describes a workholding apparatus for holding workpieces that are to undergo various machining processes. The workholder apparatus is particularly suitable for numerically controlled machining applications. The workholder consists of a main body having a generally flat work surface and two or more clamping assemblies slidably located beneath the work surface. The invention includes a means for accurately and repeatably clamping a workpiece to the work surface, so that a part may be removed at an intermediate stage for examination or other processing, and returned to the workholder in the same location. A major advantage of the present invention is the clamping is accomplished without producing undesirable stresses in the workpiece, and all sides of the workpiece can be exposed for machining without changing the attachment of the workpiece in the workholder. A modular and extensible embodiment of the invention is also described.

The control rod is provided with a tolerance compensating device comprising: a sleeve fitted over the control rod and fastened to the main seat; two end thrust members mounted on the control rod and located at both ends of the sleeve; and at least one elastic element located between the sleeve and the control rod for providing a resistance preventing the control rod to move axially. The double clamping seat can be converted into the single clamping seat by removing the fixing jaw from the main seat. The tolerance compensating device and the control rod are provided therebetween a fastening device regulating the control rod to turn without moving axially.

Abstract: The present invention L elates to a door buck spreader having the capability to support and transport a door buck, or door frame, from its time of construction to its time of final installation. This spreader is a self-contained unit that does not require any additional support members or apparatus. The spreader is capable of setting standard size door and window bucks to bucks as large as eight feet across. The present invention is capable of precise adjustment due to the intel action between a threaded core member and two elongated tubular elements that each engage the core in one end and are rigidly attached to frame mounts at the other ends thereof. The present invention is further capable of adapting to most any door buck by means of longitudinally and laterally displaceable spacer elements and securing such door bucks to the spreader itself by means of a frame clamp assembly.

  • Patent number: 4934674
Abstract: A two station, single action vise has a body, with a fixed center block forming oppositely facing fixed jaws, and movable jaws at opposite ends of the body that are moved by operation of a vise screw toward one of the respective oppositely facing fixed jaws in the center of the body. The vise screw is spring centered and will yield to apply a preclamp with one of the jaws onto a piece part. The movable jaws are shown operated by a vise screw that has left-hand threads for operating one of the movable jaws and right-hand threads for operating the other movable jaw, so that as the screw is rotated both movable jaws move simultaneously toward the center block forming the fixed jaws. In this way two work pieces can be clamped by the movable jaws against the center fixed jaw. In order to preclamp piece parts under a spring load the screw is moved so it can shift axially slightly under spring load after preclamping one part until both movable jaws are positioned to clamp their respective piece parts tightly.

  • Patent number: 4648585
Abstract: A vise structure has a control handle cooperating with a two-part guide rod means, including respective inner and outer rods mounted telescopically relative to each other. The handle is rotatably supported on the frame and has a limited longitudinal movement thereon. In one longitudinal position, the handle is coupled only to the inner rod for rotation in unison; and the inner rod is linked to a pair of pivotably-mounted vise jaws arranged to move towards and away from each other transversely of the vise structure. In a second position of the handle, both the inner and outer rods are rotated for movement of the pivotably-mounted vise jaws and, respectively, for longitudinal movement of a transversely-arranged elongated vise jaw from one end of the structure to its other end. In a third position of the handle, only the outer end is rotated for movement of only the elongated vise jaw. The vise structure is adapted for a work bench and is arranged to clamp various irregularly-shaped work pieces therein.
