  • Patent number: 6340154
Abstract: The motorized clamp device includes a motor housing having a first channel. A first motor is movably positioned within the first channel. The first motor moves back and fourth within the first channel thereby increasing or decreasing the distance ‘d1’ between a first and second contact surface. The motor control switch actuates the first motor and is attached to the motor housing. The second contact is attached to the motor housing. The motorized capability of the motorized clamp device minimizes the manual adjustments that must be performed by the operator.

  • Patent number: 6149146
Abstract: A system and method for securely clamping a target material that is to be manipulated using conventional machining techniques. The vise includes a single piece that includes a rigid jaw and a floating jaw that are integrally connected. The floating jaw is formed by a vertical and horizontal cut through a portion of the vise to enable the floating jaw to bend slightly in a hinge-like manner. A top portion of the rigid jaw and a top portion of the floating jaw are cut in a first pattern to form a working area. The size of the first pattern is approximately equal to the clamping surface of the target material. The size of the working area can be adjusted by securing devices that can expand the width of the working area to receive the target material and that can reduce the working area to securely clamp the target material. Additional cuts can be made in the vise to accommodate multiple target materials that can be secured independently.

  • Patent number: 5730433
Abstract: A tool for mating, clamping, and gluing under high pressure, two picture frame members, the ends of which have been precisely cut prior to clamping. This high pressure produces a stronger joint than is now available in existing clamps that only hold the adjacent times while the glue is setting. It also produces a faster glue setting time than conventional clamps since excess glue is squeezed out, thus increasing clamp efficiency by making it available sooner for the next glue joint. In addition, it embodies an optional vertical clamp, which, in conjunction with a transparent triangular plate, applies a vertical pressure on members that may have been slightly warped or inaccurately cut. The triangular plate is optionally used with complex profiles to distribute the pressure. This combination results in a tight aesthetic joint. Existing clamps on the market do not embody this feature.

  • Patent number: 5554240
Abstract: A method of joining metal parts together and the joints thereby produced having great strength and thermal conductivity by means of an adhesive filled with small, hard, thermally conductive particles. The filled adhesive is applied to the surfaces to be joined and the surfaces are pressed together with a force in the range of 35 to 105 Kg/sq cm while the adhesive is curing. A fixture is disclosed made of a metal with a coefficient of thermal expansion less than the parts being joined. When the parts are held in the fixture and heated, differential thermal expansion causes the fixture to apply the necessary pressure during curing while also providing a measure of the applied pressure. For joining a cooling fin normal to the surface of a part, a tapered plug is formed in the fin edge and it is forced into a tapered slot in the part after adhesive application. A low external perpendicular force applied to the fin yields a high pressure to the mating surfaces through the inclined plane.

Abstract: A machine vice comprises an elasticity-adjustment rod secured to and penetrating one of two vertical portions of a subtantially U-shaped stress-transmission frame such that the one end of the frame is in contact with a vice head having a stationary jaw and a guide rail, whereby the flexing and strain of the stationary jaw resulting when a work is clamped between the stationary and movable jaws is compensated for, thus ensuring the perpendicularity of the stationary jaw with respect to the guide rail top surface and parallelness of the two jaws.

Abstract: A jig for bending a hockey stick blade is made of a backing plate and two spacers secured on one of its surface. The backing plate has two slots extending between the two spacers. A pressure plate located between the spacers is connected to the backing plate through the slots by a pair of threaded rods so as to slide along the slots. Tightening nuts are mounted on both rods. The hockey blade is adapted to abut on one side, at both end, against the spacers and on the other side of the blade, the pressure plate applies a pressure by tightening the nuts. The apex of the curve can be located anywhere along the blade and the plane of the face of the blade can also be tilted.

  • Patent number: 4708182
Abstract: A reedmaking system is disclosed that includes a device for thickness sizing by sliding a cane segment along a guide surface past a cutting edge that is spaced apart from the guide surface a distance slightly greater than the thickness of a conventional finished reed. An adjacent length sizing tool on a common base member enables cutting to length with a blade spaced apart from a stop member a distance slightly greater than the length of a conventional finished reed. A separate hand held tapering tool includes a tapered bar on a handle for tapering by trimming to the taper of the bar as a rough reed blank is retained against the tapered bar with a single clamp member attached adjustably to the distal end of the tapered bar, while a duplicator mounted on a separate base member includes a cutting assembly with a follower that follows the shape of the pattern reed as a blade shaves the reed accordingly.

  • Patent number: 4664365
Abstract: At a base of a vise a U-shaped tie element is floatingly mounted in such way that a front leg portion thereof abuts aginst the rear inner face of a stationary clamping jaw. The area of contact between the front leg portion and the clamping jaw comprises the combination of a convex nose at the one part and a planar face at the other part. The tie element is supported by resilient means which are separated from the contact area. Thereby the tie element is self-adjusting and a uniform contact is gained along the whole width of the tie element. During clamping the front leg portion is pivoted with respect to the base section of the tie element, however, thanks to a rolling line contact at the stationary clamping jaw no forces are transmitted which would angularly displace the stationary clamping jaw.
