The method includes mounting a positioning saddle relative to a base of the fixture, the positioning saddle aligned with the open area, holding a replacement airfoil using the positioning saddle, applying a curable material at an interface between the replacement airfoil and the inner and outer fairing, and curing the curable material while maintaining a relative position between the replacement airfoil and the inner and outer fairing.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a manufacturing method for advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) wheel, comprising the following steps. Take an AHSS with at least 590 MPa of tensile strength for rolling to circular ring of a rim. Apply low heat input welding, such as the cold metal transfer (CMT) welding or the gas tungsten arc welding/tungsten inert gas arc welding (GTAW/TIG), at the junction of the rim to form a hollow cylindrical rim. Then perform hole expanding and spinning/roll forming operations to the rim. Take another AHSS with at least 980 MPa of tensile strength for pressing and forming a disk. Apply low heat input welding, such as cold metal transfer (CMT) welding, to the rim and the disk to produce a wheel. According to the present invention, the welding quality of products can be improved significantly; the fatigue lifetime of wheels can be enhanced; and wheels are lightweight.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include various different types and sizes of automated, computer-controlled, adjustable machine-tool work-piece mounting systems used to support and constrain movement of work pieces during manufacture, repair, and maintenance. The automated, computer-controlled, adjustable machine-tool work-piece mounting systems that represent embodiments of the present invention are implemented from one or more adjustable machine-tool work-piece mounting-system modules. Each adjustable machine-tool work-piece mounting-system module comprises an array of extendable supports with non-circular and non-elliptical cross sections. In certain embodiments of the present invention, the extendable supports are extended and retracted along a direction approximately normal to a substrate or surface of the automated, computer-controlled, adjustable machine-tool work-piece mounting-system module by linear actuators and are maintained at desired positions by compressed-air brakes.
