  • Patent number: 11766762
Abstract: A workholding system includes an adjustable vise, a fixed vise, and a fixture plate. The adjustable vise and the fixed vise are secured to the fixture plate using a T-slot and a fastener. The system includes multiple precision locating surfaces, including interchangeable precision locating surfaces, to secure a working part. In one embodiment, a T-slot fastener facilitates the creation of an entire workholding system that facilitates the rapid installation of studs into receiving members. The fastener includes a quarter turn fastener used in workholding applications to quickly hold and release components of the system, such as tooling, parts, and plates. The compact design of the system makes possible the ability to insert the quarter turn fastener into a device that can fit into a T-slot and still have considerable holding power. The system is lower in cost than other solutions.

  • Patent number: 8622276
Abstract: In aspects of the assembly jig and method of the invention, when a packaging substrate is curved concaving upward at temperatures of melting solder, the gap between the assembly jig and the packaging substrate can be made smaller than the dimension of the sum of the thickness of the semiconductor chip and the thickness of the melted solder by allowing a part of the bottom surface of the chip positioning piece to become always, or substantially always, in contact with the upper surface of the packaging substrate owing to the weight of the chip positioning jig itself. As a consequence, the semiconductor chip does not slip aside out of the opening of the chip positioning piece. Therefore, the semiconductor chip can be positioned accurately on the packaging substrate.

The clamp has a moveable clamping jaw, a threaded clamping shaft, and a threaded clamping nut. The jaw is attached to one end of the shaft so that it can rotate with the shaft when the shaft is rotated. The shaft has a stop at the opposite end to the jaw. The nut is screw-threadably attached to the shaft between the jaw and the stop. The jaw is arranged to pass through an aperture in a member to which the clamp is to be attached. The aperture may in fact comprise a slot in a track member. The jaw and the aperture are shaped so that in one angular rotated position of the jaw relative to the aperture the jaw can pass through the aperture but in another angular rotated position relative to the aperture the jaw cannot pass through the aperture.

  • Patent number: 5516089
Abstract: A workpiece locating unit is receivable in a T-slot formed in a workpiece supporting table member and provides a pin or other locating device cooperable with a locating feature on a workpiece to aid in accurately positioning the workpiece on the work supporting surface of the table member. The unit has four corners each providing an abutment surface for engagement with one or the other of two vertical slot surfaces. Two diagonally opposite ones of the abutment surfaces are rigid and the other two diagonally opposite ones of the abutment surfaces are resilient. The resilient abutment surfaces resiliently engage the two vertical surfaces of the slot and urge the unit about a vertical axis to hold the rigid abutment surfaces engaged with the vertical slot surfaces eliminating lateral looseness between the unit and the table member and providing accurate positioning of the locating device of the unit as the unit is moved from one position to another along the length of the slot.

  • Patent number: 5443554
Abstract: A positioning device for use with a table saw including a worktable with a transverse beam transversal to the saw, along which a workpiece stop member may slide. The device has an elongated support fixed to the transverse beam of the worktable. A plurality of block members are slidably mounted along the support and are lockable anywhere on this support. An alignment arm is connected to the stop member so as to be movable therewith. This arm has at least one protuberance that is engageable with any preselected block member to lock the stop member in a given position away from the saw. The device allows for easy and infinitely precise positioning of the alignment arm and stop member plate for a workpiece placed on the worktable. It further allows for a rapid "programming" of the positioning of a plurality of workpieces to be sawed.

  • Patent number: 5211381
Abstract: A truss assembly apparatus and method comprising a conveyor belt carrying a set of slats, a computer for generating an image of the set of slats and a pattern of stops for a truss jig, and a second set of slats that are used for setting up the jig in accordance with the pattern. The slats of the first set are held to the conveyor belt by spherical magnets partially encased in the undersides of the slats. Each slat is ruled and has holes formed therein for receiving the stops. The slats of the first set that are to be replaced with slats from the second set are ejected from the conveyor with an air gun to identify them and to facilitate their removal. The truss can then be assembled on the truss assembly portion of the conveyor belt as the truss is moved to the unloading portion of the conveyor. To attach the truss elements together, connector plates are seated in adjacent elements by rollers.

Abstract: This invention relates to apparatus for aligning groups of plates and separators in a group for use in an accumulator battery and can more broadly relate to general alignment apparatus. In one construction the alignment apparatus 19 has a table 20 which is mounted on a frame, which can be lifted by a hydraulic ram 21 and vibrated by a vertically acting low frequency vibrator 22 and a cyclically horizontally acting vibrator 23. A head 24 is provided with lug aligning walls, 25, 26 which align the plates 31, while walls 17 and 18 provide lateral alignment of the separators 30. Weights 27 and 27A act on top of the plates 31 and separators 30 respectively to provide vertical alignment. The combined vibrations produced by the vibrators 22, 23 free the plates and separators to allow these alignments to occur.
