Abstract: An electroplating rack includes a cathode flight bar from which depends an insulated rack bar over an acid bath. A clamp is fixed to the rack bar, and has a bridge electrically connected to the flight bar through a conducting core inside the insulated rack bar. The clamp has a main body made of plastic, which includes a slot in which protrudes the bridge. An electrically conducting spring clip is installed in the slot, and is formed of two arms continuously biased into a spreaded, opened condition in the slot. A screw carried by the main body, when rotated in a first direction, can force the spring clip into a closed condition, in which it can hold an article to be electroplated between its two arms, and in which one of the spring clip arms is forced against the bridge member. Thus, electrical current can pass through the rack flight bar and conducting core, then through the bridge member, the spring clip and finally into the article to be electroplated.

  • Patent number: 5926882
Abstract: A fabrication assembly (10, 18, 24, 30, 38, 44, etc.) for the manufacture of prosthetic and orthotic devices allows various components of these devices to be aligned on a common mast with respect to height, distance, flexion/extension, abduction/adduction and rotation alignment criteria, and each of these criteria can be adjusted apart from the other criteria. There are planar translation components (62, 62') that permit true planar, medial-lateral movement relative to a mast (10) without imposing rotation or angular deflection to a component mounted thereon. Accordingly, the assembly of a prosthetic or orthotic device according to physiological alignment criteria is an efficient step-by-step process, whereas prior art devices required that at least two criteria be adjusted and checked simultaneously. Among the features of the fabricating system are an angular/rotational fixture (38) that allows for separate settings of angular and rotational orientations for a given component.

Abstract: A small size vice constructed to hold small parts while being work processed on up to three sides with one clamping of the part being work processed. The small vice uses a rigid frame design applicable for being clamped in a larger bench vice, bench mount bracket or machine table clamp having rigidity not found in small vices. The small size vice has narrow jaws and very long movable jaw travel for it's jaw width and with the jaw travel perpendicular to the clamping surfaces of the jaws. The small size vice also has an underside rigid web reinforcing substantially the length of the vice to prevent the vice from bowing from vice jaw clamping force and to provide a web for being clamped in a larger bench vice (or other clamping device) with the smaller size holding small parts being worked on over to one side of the bench vice. The two sided shoulder at the top of the underside rigid web prevents vice slip down when the small vice is clamped in the jaws of a larger vice.

  • Patent number: 4949928
Abstract: A rotatable holder with position memory particularly useful for restoring a memorized orientation for a support rod for an article. The holder has a fixed part and a rotatable part rotatable on the fixed part. First gearing on the rear of the rotary part meshes with second gearing on the front of the fixed part when a securing bolt moves them together, preventing rotation of the rotary part. Lossening of the securing bolt frees the rotary part to rotate. The rotary part includes a rearwardly extending protrusion with its internally gear toothed. A memory ring disposed inside that protrusion and has peripheral gearing which meshes with the gearing in the protrusion, so that the memory ring rotates with the rotary part. The memory ring is biased by a spring rearwardly along the protrusion to disengage the memory ring from the gear toothing when the securing bolt is loosened, which would enable free adjustment of the rotary part with respect to the fixed part.

Abstract: A model airplane jig is disclosed which is particularly adapted to support a model gasoline engine airplane in substantially any position or orientation so that repairs can be made to the same. The jig includes a weighted base and a vertical post extending upwardly therefrom. A horizontal beam is pivotally connected to the top of the post through a ball joint and trunnion with the connection being radially offset from the axis of the post. Front and rear wheel clamps adjustably mounted adjacent the ends of the horizontal beam attach to the wheels of an airplane and secure the plane to the jig.

  • Patent number: 4934643
Abstract: An improved adjustable holder for a screed rail for mounting the rail above the ground so as to eliminate the need for concrete pads which are presently used to support such a screed rail on the ground. The holder includes an upright stake or post having a sleeve adjustably mounted on the post for movement along the post. A bar extends laterally from the sleeve and is coupled thereto by a pivot pin so that the angle of the bar relative to the ground can be adjusted. Once adjusted, the bar is fixedly held in place by a clamping structure including a curved, slotted arm pivotally mounted at one end thereof and coupled near the opposite end to the bar. Slidable members are on the bar for holding the side flanges of the screed rail in place on the bar at the proper positions. Thus, the holder of the present invention has three degrees of freedom, namely vertical movement of the sleeve, pivotal movement of the bar in a vertical plane, and linear movement of the flange holding members on the bar.

  • Patent number: 4747569
Abstract: A support head for a support rod which enables the angular orientation and the longitudinal position of the rod to be adjusted with respect to the support head. The support head includes a main body supported on a stand, an intermediate member and beyond the intermediate member a finishing member. The main body and intermediate member have facing annular ridged racks which when engaged prohibit relative rotation therebetween. A screw connection between the main body and the intermediate member is tightened to prohibit rotation and is loosened to permit it. The intermediate member and a finishing member beyond it have respective cooperating recesses which together define an opening through which the support rod is passed and is longitudinally movable. A second screw connection between the finishing member and the intermediate member is tightened to clamp the rod in the recesses and is loosened to permit the rod to be shifted longitudinally.

Abstract: A craftsman's tool for supporting jewelry includes an L-shaped frame pivotally coupled to a stationary support such as a work bench or the like, and a collar rotatably connected to the frame removably carries a housing which receives a shiftable member presenting movable clamping jaws for releasably holding an item of jewelry. A handrest fixed to the frame swings to an out-of-the-way position as the frame is pivoted relative to the support for improving access as may be needed to the jaws or the item of jewelry supported thereby. A third hand device for positioning an object on the item of jewelry supported by the jaws is fixedly connected to the frame so that the frame can be pivoted as necessary without disturbing the positional relationship between the object held by the third hand device and the jewelry item carried by the jaws.
