Additional-sheet Associating Patents (Class 270/14)
  • Patent number: 8833750
Abstract: A device and a method for folding a print substrate web is disclosed. The device has devices for quarter folding and for cross-cutting the print substrate web for severing individual products as well as devices for cross folding. As viewed in the transport direction of the products, an arrangement for dividing the product stream is provided after a second quarter folding device, the arrangement conveying the successive products to a first and a second conveyor belt in an alternating manner.

  • Publication number: 20130256968
Abstract: An image processor applies a RIP process to PDL data in order of the first through the n-th sheets to convert it into a scanning line type image data. An image forming section 5 receives the image data in sequence to form the image on the sheets. A controller 45 determines whether the RIP process is required for the image data of the n-th sheet or a rear cover. If no RIP process is required, the controller notifies the image forming section of non-RIP process for the n-th sheet. The RIP processed image data for the first through the n-1th sheets is applied to the image forming section. A waiting time for the image data transmission can be reduced. If the rear cover is blank, the high speed ring binding job can be established.

  • Patent number: 8544386
Abstract: Embodiments herein comprise an apparatus that includes a printing engine and an interposer adapted to receive printed sheets from the printing engine. The interposer adds insert sheets between printed sheets. The interposer includes a decurler positioned within the interposer so as to decurl the printed sheets after the interposer adds the insert sheets. The printing engine adds a curl to the printed sheets and the decurler removes the curl from the printed sheets. The decurler can comprise a roller-based decurler, a heated decurler, a pressure based decurler, and/or a moisture-vacuum based decurler.

  • Patent number: 4260144
Abstract: A planetary crank drive gear arrangement for a conveyor drum in a folder of a web-fed rotary printing machine is disclosed. The planetary crank drive gear arrangement includes a pair of spaced planetary gears which cooperate with a sun gear through which the shaft of the conveyor drum passes. A swing disk is carried on the conveyor drum shaft and is so weighted to compensate for the additional weights added by the planetary crank drive gears and the like. The planetary crank drive gear arrangement allows the conveyor drum to be either accelerated or decelerated without adversely affecting the drive for the printing machine.

  • Patent number: 4026537
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling a block for a book or book section in a 2-up coming and going method of bookmaking by providing a stream of groups of book elements, each group containing all the primary pages of the book or book section. The groups of the stream are divided into first and second series and the groups of the first series are conveyed to a combining station around a turn-over member rotating about a horizontal axis so that each group of the first series is turned through 180.degree.. The groups of the second series are separately conveyed to the combining station and each group is arranged to be in half-block form before it reaches the combining station. At the combining station, the half-blocks of the series and the half-blocks of the second series are brought together in pairs by bringing each half-block of one series under a half-block of the other series to form blocks each comprising a half-block of the first series and a half-block of the second series.
