Abstract: A sheet conveyor apparatus may include a sheet support portion, a first roller that feeds sheets supported on the sheet support portion, and a second roller disposed downstream of the first roller and rotatable about a rotation axis. The apparatus further include a holder supported swingably about the rotation axis, a wall opposite the sheet support portion with the holder interposed therebetween, and a pressing member disposed between the wall and the holder to press the first roller toward the sheet support portion. The pressing member includes a holding member movably supported by the holder to contact the wall, and a spring disposed between the holding member and the holder to apply a biasing force causing the holding member and the holder to move away from each other while maintaining a state in which the holding member contacts the wall regardless of swing of the holder about the rotation axis.

Abstract: When a retard roller is rotating in a sheet feeding direction, the rotation is transmitted to a pickup roller and the pickup roller rotates in a direction for conveying the sheet. When the retard roller is rotating in a direction opposite to the sheet feeding direction or is stationary, the pickup roller does not feed the sheet. Therefore, in a successive feeding operation, the sheet to be fed next is always conveyed such that the leading end thereof reaches a nip position between a feed roller and the retard roller.
