  • Patent number: 11919736
Abstract: A pusher plate stacking bin apparatus is provided for a valuable media depository. The apparatus comprising a pusher plate driven by a rack and pinion apparatus to stack a media item that is in a final position within the apparatus onto a media stacking platform. The media item is urged into the final position such that a trailing edge of the media item overhangs and rests on a fixed media guide and such that a leading edge of the media item overhangs and rests on a hinged media guide with a bottom surface of the media item elevated above the media stacking platform. The rack and pinion apparatus drives the plate past the media guides causing the hinged media guide to drop and the media item to fold along the leading edge as the media item is stacked onto the platform.

Abstract: Embodiment herein being by placing a media sheet into a chamber. The chamber has a bottom, sidewalls, and a movable projection within a lower portion of the chamber. The movable projection has an upper surface and the media sheet can initially rest on the upper surface of the movable projection. The method can optionally perform a first alignment process (using an alignment mechanism) while the media sheet rests on the upper surface of the movable projection. Then, the method can retract the movable projection to allow the media sheet to fall onto the bottom of the chamber. Next, once the media sheet rests against the bottom of the chamber, the method performs a second alignment process, again using the alignment mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7396011
Abstract: A modular bin or pocket has an integrated transport assembly and mail piece diverter assembly and is usable in a bin stacker section in mail handling and sorting systems. The modular bin is individually removable, interchangeable and replaceable from the bin stacker sections of the mail processing system to allow for repair or maintenance of malfunctioning bins leading to reduced down time of the mail processing system. The modular bin further enables vertical and/or horizontal progressive modularity, i.e., vertical and/or horizontal expansion, of the bin stacker sections of the mail processing system which allows for cost-effective expansion of mail handling systems. Further, there is disclosed a tray management system and a tier diverter system that are usable in mail handling systems that use the modular bin with double sided bin stacker sections or single sided bin stacker sections with or without a turnaround section.

Abstract: A bill stacker detection apparatus comprises a base body, a stacker and a sensor. The sensor has a light emitting element and a light receiving element. When the stacker is moved to a position near the sensor, apertures of a protruding structure on the stacker is covered. The light receiving element is unable to receive a light beam emitted by the light emitting element. If bills fill with the stacker, a bill supporting plate then pushes a sliding block. The aperture is staggered by the sliding block. The light receiving element then receives the light beam to detect whether the stacker is disposed on the base or filled with bills.

Abstract: An on-edge stacker having a deck surface to support a vertical mail stack, which is allowed to expand from the upstream end to the downstream end. A paddle, movably mounted on a linear support member, is used to support the downstream end of the mail stack. The linear support member is positioned at a level lower than or substantially the same as the deck surface so that the mail can be swept from the deck surface from either longitudinal side of the stacker. A toggle switch is disposed near the downstream end so that when the paddle moved by the expanding stack reaches beyond a certain point, the toggle switch is triggered to indicate that the stack is full or almost full. The paddle has a wedge-shaped blade so that it can slide the stacked mailed on the deck surface without damaging the mail.
