Patent number: 5358446Abstract: A free standing bowling ramp for physically limited people is disclosed. The ramp includes supporting means, positioning and accelerating means, and means for aiming a bowling ball to target specific pins. The supporting means includes a number of interconnected components and flaps. The positioning and accelerating means includes first and second sloped parallel rails. The rails are sloped such as to prevent a ball from accidentally rolling down a ramp before the bowler intends to release the ball. The aiming means includes a clamp assembly that allows the bowler to reposition the ramp to target specific pins without shifting the entire ramp.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1993Date of Patent: October 25, 1994Inventor: David Bergman

Patent number: 5314384Abstract: The child's bowling aid device resembles a portable bowling ball holding rack with attached bowling ball launching ramp and is adapted to permit a child to easily hold the bowling ball on the rack and then ease it forward off the rack through the launching ramp, after aiming the ramp, in order to roll it onto a bowling lane and knock down bowling pins. The device includes first and second spaced parallel vertical side plates, each with a flat bottom, elevated rear end, a dish-shaped bowling ball-retaining top portion and a front top portion which slopes down and forwardly to serve as a launching ramp. Spaced rear and front transverse vertical crossplates interconnect the side plates. The rear transverse plate is taller than the front transverse plate. Preferably, all plates are flat and releasably connectable and form a kit capable of being transported in disassembled condition in a bag or the like and then being assembled at a bowling alley for use.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1992Date of Patent: May 24, 1994Inventor: Mark Ross-Sullivan

Patent number: 5199704Abstract: A pool ball positioning apparatus includes a wedge-shaped body with an inclined upper surface having a channel formed therein to guide a pool ball along the length of the inclined surface. Preferably, the channel has an arcuate cross-section which matches the curvature of the pool ball, and the surface is sloped at an angle of approximately 21.degree.. In use, the apparatus is positioned on a pool table and a pool ball is positioned in the channel at a predetermined position on the inclined surface. When the ball is released, it will roll across the pool table to the desired location.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1991Date of Patent: April 6, 1993Inventor: Raymond F. Badami

Patent number: 5183261Abstract: A bumper bowling game, combining the features and required skills of conventional billiards and bowling, includes a V-shaped table having flat outgoing and return alleyways with a concave gutter along each side thereof. The outgoing and return alleyways are joined at their distal ends by a cushioned bumper. A ball starter at the proximal end of the outgoing alleyway may be aimed by moving it laterally and pivotally and includes a starting ramp down which a ball rolls by gravity to gain sufficient speed to propel it in an outbound direction along the outgoing alleyway. When the ball comes in contact with the cushioned bumper, it is deflected and caused to travel in the opposite or return direction along the return alleyway. A number of pins, shaped like conventional bowling pins, are arranged in the same configuration as in conventional bowling at the proximal end of the return alleyway to be knocked down by the ball as it travels along the return alleyway. Scoring is the same as in conventional bowling.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1991Date of Patent: February 2, 1993Inventor: Josef Nobi

Patent number: 4991844Abstract: Apparatus for playing a ball game, comprising a playing surface, a plurality of balls having an eccentric distribution of mass, and means for initiating rolling movement of the balls in a way which preserves the orientation of the eccentricity of mass distribution of the ball with respect to a rolling axis thereof.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1989Date of Patent: February 12, 1991Inventor: David G. Derry

Patent number: 4949967Abstract: In the tennis game board, each of the racket-supporting bodies that are reciprocally movable along each end of the base board is provided with a ball delivery member, which directly feeds the ball onto the board surface as if the ball was served by one of the racket-supporting bodies. After this, the ball on the board surface of the base board is hit alternately by the opposedly disposed racket-supporting bodies, thus enabling the game like tennis to be performed.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1989Date of Patent: August 21, 1990Inventor: Masatoshi Todokoro

Patent number: 4883273Abstract: A toy-game apparatus includes a base, a timer in the base actuatable for a set period of time, a slide assembly on the base, a plurality of game elements and a character figure assembly. The slide assembly includes upper and lower slide portions which are operative in substantially aligned normal positions wherein the game elements can move downwardly along the upper surfaces thereof, slightly upwardly pivoted interfering positions wherein movement of the game elements thereon is impeded and further upwardly pivoted interrupted positions wherein movement of the game elements thereon is prevented. The character figure assembly is responsive to the timer for moving the slide portions between the interfering and normal positions thereof during the set period of time and for moving the slide portions to the interrupted positions thereof upon the expiration of the set period of time.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1988Date of Patent: November 28, 1989Assignee: Asahi CorporationInventor: Toshio Kobayashi

Patent number: 4863160Abstract: A multi-positionable arrangement of substantially parallel bars which form a substantial track for a ball and for disposing the track to a position accessible to the feet, legs, hands and arms of the body to be exercised. The bars are adjustably spaced apart to provide for adjustment of contact engagement with ball surface so that repeated stroking of the ball on the track path requires striking contact at a particular point on the ball surface and thereby exercise of some specific body muscles and reflexes.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1988Date of Patent: September 5, 1989Inventor: Ralph D. Pelle

Patent number: 4795396Abstract: A lever having an inner impeller arm and outer actuating arm is pivoted to a portable platform. An adjustably fixed post is secured to the platform radially outward from the impeller arm. The post includes a concave surface which faces a convex surface at the end of the impeller arm. At least a portion of the surfaces are mutually congruent and spaced-apart a distance less than the diameter of a top spindle. The surfaces are resilient and grip the spindle so that relative movement between the surfaces will rotate the spindle and top. As the impeller arm is swung beyond the stationary surface, the top will be released from the surfaces and become propelled by the arm into dynamic flight.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1987Date of Patent: January 3, 1989Inventor: Oscar F. Lindstrom

Patent number: 4216961Abstract: Apparatus is provided for the playing of a parlor game version of baseball. A playing field of nonferrous material has baseball markings delineated. A pitching mechanism is provided whereby a ferrous metal ball is positioned on the upper surface of the playing field. A first cart, positioned beneath the playing field and out of sight, carries a magnet for the guiding of the ball and is positioned on a first ramp device. A second cart is provided with a relatively heavy weight and positioned on a second ramp, the angle of which is determined by the defensive player of the game. The second cart is attached to the first cart by a string whereby movement of the second cart will affect movement of the first cart. Pitching of the ball is carried out by releasing the second cart and allowing it to roll down the second ramp and pull the first cart along the first ramp.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1978Date of Patent: August 12, 1980Inventor: Mary J.
