Rotating Pointer Patents (Class 273/141R)
  • Patent number: 6120022
Abstract: A spinner for randomly selecting a number has a very low friction bearing between a transparent spinner member and a transparent base plate. In one embodiment the base and spinner are formed of a transparent plastic such as Plexiglas, with a cone point set screw mounted in a threaded hole of the base plate and providing a narrow point for seating of the spinner member. A transparency with annularly arranged numbers may be placed at the bottom side of the transparent base plate, and different numerical arrays or symbol arrays may be selected. The spinner member has a central hole fitted with a central hub that has a recess formed into an internal cone shaped apex. The cone angle of the set screw point is steeper than that in the apex of the hub recess, so that the spinner member rests essentially only on the narrow point of the set screw.

  • Patent number: 6095520
Abstract: A device for randomly selecting and illustrating a trump suit for a card game. A spinner is used to point out a trump suit as marked on a flat planar member. The device may also be provided with a marker to track the number of cards dealt in the current hand. A method for playing a card game using the device where from 2 to 7 players may play the game. A series of hands are played, wherein each player is first dealt 7 cards and 1 less card for each subsequent hand. Each hand consists of a series of tricks where each player throws one card, following the suit led if possible. The player who takes the trick, by throwing the highest ranked card, leads the next trick. A series of tricks are played until all cards have been thrown, signalling the end of the hand. Any player who took at least one trick remains to play another hand which is dealt by the winner of the previous hand. The dealer also selects trump, after examining his hand. Hands are played until only one player, the winner, remains.

Abstract: A game of chance similar to blackjack is playable without a deck of blackjack playing cards. A plurality of player landing stations are provided on a game board in a predetermined sequence. Each such station has associated therewith a face value number which corresponds to the value of a pair of cards from a blackjack deck. A pair of dice is rolled initially to advance a player along the sequence of stations. In situations where the player thus advanced desires to receive the equivalent of another playing card, the dice are rolled again and the resulting numerical value is correlated probabilistically to predetermined card values. The correlated card value is then added to the base value number of the station on which the player has landed so as to provide a playing number. In embodiments where the numbers are correlated to the game of blackjack, a sum greater than 21 would be considered an immediate loss.

  • Patent number: 4113260
Abstract: A game simulating the outdoor game of golf. Game equipment, to accommodate one to eight players, includes 18 playing boards simulating respective hole areas on a golf course, two hazard, green and putt spinners, eight dice, nine playing pieces, eight stroke counters, a plurality of skill cards, usually 120, and two re-usable score cards, two score pencils, and two score card sloths to remove pencil markings on the score cards. The game pieces, equipment, playing boards, and indicia and markings are engineered in accordance with laws of mathematical probability such that realistic scores are obtained as though the players were actually on a golf course. Thus, close correlation and simulation of actual conditions, objects and scores, is achieved, this by virtue of the relationship and correlation of physical materials and components with printed indicia.

  • Patent number: 4074906
Abstract: Game apparatus is disclosed having a game card playing chance taking apparatus for randomly determining the play of the game cards. The preferred embodiment of the game apparatus further includes a set of game playing cards and chance taking apparatus. The playing cards, in the preferred embodiment, include three separately identifiable portions, with the first and second portions having a random numerical value associated therewith and the third portion having a numerical value associated therewith which is equal to the sum of the associated numerical values of the first and second portions. The chance taking apparatus randomly identifies one of the three card portions. The game card playing chance taking apparatus is shown in a first preferred form as a game board and game markers and is shown in a second preferred form as spinner apparatus.

  • Patent number: 3967825
Abstract: An educational game for playing a game of skill and judgement, the game comprising, a random number selector adapted to receive a disc containing numbers thereon, at least one game board divided into a plurality of rows and columns of four in number, a plurality of numbered tokens for placing at each of the sixteen spaces defined on the game board by the rows and columns, each of said game boards having a numerical solution, the solution being defined by addition of the numbered tokens on the board after all spaces are filled, the addition being in any desired direction of any four of the tokens in abutting relationship. In playing the game the random selector is used to select numbers from a disc and numerical tokens are then placed on the game board until all spaces on each players board are filled, the object of the game being to obtain the correct solution indicated for that particular game.
