Abstract: This invention is an educational game of suspension, balance, construction and strategy. It can be played alone or with others. An initial point of suspension support is set up. One of several ways is used to choose a particular starting game piece. The first player engages a piece in some way with the point of suspension. Play moves to the next player. That player engages their piece anywhere and any way on the suspended structure. Pieces that disengage and are no longer contiguous with the suspended structure during any player's turn become part of that player's stock. If any player successfully engages a piece without it or any other piece falling completely away from the structure then the predetermined value of that piece is added to their score. The game ends when any player runs out of all their stock. At this point all scores are compared and the highest score wins.

  • Patent number: 5613690
Abstract: Various embodiments of balance and proprioception training and enhancement devices, which serve to improve the balance and proprioceptive abilities of a user thereof. A balance platform is placed atop a base platform, with the balance platform being angularly displaceable in any direction relative to the base platform and having a low friction interface between the base platform and the balance platform. The base platform may have either a spherically shaped convex support or a spherically shaped concave depression, with the balance platform having the complementary configuration to the base platform. The low friction interface between the two curved surfaces may comprise low friction coatings or rollers. Angular displacement sensors (rheostats, optical sensors, etc.

  • Patent number: 5377974
Abstract: A string or cord is tied between two vertical surfaces. A hoop is rolled across the stretched string in an attempt to balance the hoop as it travels from one end of the string to an opposite end of the string. On a peripheral edge of the hoop, a concave groove is formed so as to engage the string as the hoop is rolled across the string. Depending upon the depth and width of the groove, the degree of difficulty in rolling the hoop across the string is varied. In a preferred embodiment, the string is stretched across a game table, so if the hoop falls off of the string or even if the hoop completes its journey across the string, the hoop falls onto an elevated surface from which the hoop may be retrieved. To assist a player in retrieving the hoop, a hooked rod may be used.

  • Patent number: 5346229
Abstract: A plastic stick based toy formed of injection molded plastic, and consisting of one 36 inch stick, four injection molded plastic poles which extend out from the top of the stick, evenly spaced, at 90 degree angles, and four linked chains which extend downward vertically from the ends of each of the four plastic poles. A rounded bottom is attached at the base of the stick to make the stick difficult to control when it is tilted. Four rubber tips are attached to the free ends of the four poles to prevent eye injury. The sucessful contestant is able to maintain the stick in a correct vertical balance on the tip end of the middle finger. The contestant is disqualified, however, when either of the chains touches the stick, or when the stick makes contact with any other object, or when the stick loses contact at any time with the balancing finger.

  • Patent number: 5292124
Abstract: A wand game includes a handle having elongate rail members extending from the handle, whereupon a game sphere arranged for rolling along the rails is displaced in adjacency to the handle to a second position spaced from the handle, whereupon the rails are diverging permitting the sphere to fall between the rails, whereupon rapid one hundred eighty degree rotation of the handle and rails is arranged to permit catching of the game sphere to continue rolling of the sphere towards the handle. A modification of the invention includes a trio of rails arranged in a coplanar relationship permitting use of a plurality of game spheres.

  • Patent number: 5248152
Abstract: A game employs a number of footprint markers which the players take turns laying down. The procedure of the game is that two footprints are laid down initially; the first player steps on them without stepping elsewhere, then places another footprint any place of choice. The player laying the footprint must then step in that footprint without losing balance, or the footprint is retrieved and does not count. Play continues in rotation, with each player attempting to traverse the current trail and add a new footprint, until a trail of predetermined length has been formed. The next player to step in all existing footprints in order, without losing balance, is the winner.

  • Patent number: 5242165
Abstract: In an apparatus and method for playing a hand-eye coordination game, a plank and "Ping Pong" type ball are provided. The plank has a hole at an end near the handle and another hole at the opposing end. The object of the game is to maneuver a ball from the hole near the handle to the opposing end and back, thereby completing a "walk on the plank", without touching the ball or having the ball fall off of the plank. Variations include apertures within the plank, pegs selectively inserted in the apertures, and playing surfaces of a planar and a non-planar construction. The player's manual dexterity is enhanced by playing the game.

  • Patent number: 5040789
Abstract: Apparatus for a game including a game piece, a pair of long cylindrical implements having first and second ends, and a receptacle. The implements are held, one in each hand, by grasping the implements generally adjacent their first ends. The game piece has a first member with first and second opposite faces, a second member projecting outwardly from the first face of said first member, and a third member projecting outwardly from the second face of said first member. The members have thin outwardly facing peripheral edges. The general object of the game is to pick up the game piece by cooperatively engaging the implements adjacent their second ends with the thin peripheral edges of the game piece members and to deposit the game piece in the receptacle.
