The piston pump assembly includes a pump housing, a cartridge having a first end that extends into a second end of the pump housing, a piston that extends into a first end of the pump housing and the first end of the cartridge, and a packing stack within the cartridge and adjacent an inner surface of the cartridge and through which the piston extends. The cartridge is configured to be removed from the pump housing, and removal of the cartridge removes the packing stack from within the pump housing while leaving the pump housing connected to the motor housing.

    Abstract: A seal assembly for a shaft has a flange fixed to a work piece having a bore hole therein. The flange encircles the shaft and includes a triangular shaped projecting member having first and second surfaces extending from the flange into the bore hole. An angle is formed between the first and second surface. The first surface of the projecting member is in contact with an inner surface of the bore hole or the outer surface of the shaft. An o-ring encircles the shaft and a backup ring is positioned within a space between the shaft, the flange and the o-ring or between the bore hole, the flange and the o-ring. Subject to axial forces, the backup ring undergoes a wedging action between the shaft and the triangular shaped projecting member or between the bore hole and the triangular member to seal where the shaft penetrates the work piece.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing device for cylinder bearings. An annular projection which is connected to the cylinder neck (2) in a rotationally fixed manner carries an annular sealing surface which interacts with an elastic, stationary sealing element (23, 24), a sealing labyrinth consisting of stationary parts and parts which are connected to the cylinder (1) being placed upstream from the sealing element (13) towards the cylinder barrel. The aim of the invention is to develop one such sealing device in such a way that good sealing action can be achieved using simple and cost-effective sealing elements, and the durability of the seal increased in relation to that created by known sealing devices in such a way that the entire sealing device is cheaper.

The seal ring has a bore surface thereon confronting the shaft, and the bore surface has a circumferential lift region located downstream of a circumferential bearing region. The bearing region has additional lift grooves either in the seal ring or in the shaft surface confronting the bearing region, together with feed grooves connecting the additional lift grooves, respectively, to a higher-pressure region adjacent the shaft.

The rack seal air side surface includes a bead segment. The bead segment has a predetermined height which creates a minimum contact at a full gap with the rack bushing and is compressible to a minimum gap with the rack bushing. The bead segment of the rack seal is in constant contact with the thermoplastic bushing such that any objectionable noises are eliminated during any separation of the rack seal and the thermoplastic bushing.

    Abstract: In order to insert a replacement toner dam in an assembled toner cartridge, the opposing sides of the toner cartridge are caused to move towards each other so as to deform the cartridge and cause openings to appear at opposing ends thereof. A pair of web spring carriers are inserted into and through the openings so they exit from one opening. A new toner dam is inserted between web spring carriers at the portion thereof that exits from the opening. The web spring carriers are then withdrawn until the replacement toner dam is in a proper position. The dam is then held in position and the web spring carriers are freely withdrawn. This method thereby enables replacement of the toner dam without injury to seals at either end of the toner cartridge. Various non-adhesive bearing toner dam structures are shown, each of which has a flexible portion that engages a toner bottle flange and thereby enables a toner seal to be achieved without use of adhesive.

The packer provides a fluid path to effectively communicate pressured fluid along the entire interior length of the bladder, thus effectively tolerating the fold and any otherwise fluid-obstructing seal.

    Abstract: A fluid-coupled latch for a soil sampling system (including a sample barrel and a drive casing) includes an inflatable gland affixed to the sample barrel. When inflated, the latch engages the inner wall of the drive casing so that the sample barrel is held in a fixed position relative to the drive casing. The latch thus in effect rigidly couples the sample barrel to the drive casing so that the drive casing and sample barrel can be driven simultaneously into the soil while maintaining their initial relative positions. The pressure in the gland is regulated during sampling procedures. After the casing, barrel, and liners are advanced a selected depth into the soil, the latch is released by deflating the inflatable gland and the barrel and liners are removed using wire rope from a winch. The drive casing remains in the soil. An extension is attached to the drive casing.
