  • Patent number: 7311307
Abstract: A seal seat assembly utilizes a positive mechanical drive between a seal seat and the bore of a pump component, which in turn is mounted to and driven by the shaft by means of a positive mechanical engagement therebetween. The grommet accommodates the positive mechanical drive between the seal seat and the pump component. The seal assembly enables a robust, easily assembled three-component sub-assembly of the seal seat, grommet and pump component that can be handled as a single unit, and which easily installs onto, seals with, and becomes rotationally locked to a shaft. The positive engagement features, retaining features and static sealing features are axially aligned to provide an axially-compact seal assembly.

  • Patent number: 7204490
Abstract: A shaft-sealing device includes a shaft tube, a retaining ring member, a rotary ring member, a resilient ring member and a sealing ring member. The shaft tube provides with an annular end flange and engaging notches thereon. The rotary ring member also provides with engaging recessions. Correspondingly, the retaining ring member provides with engaging teeth. In assembling, the resilient ring member is retained between the annular end flange of the shaft tube and the retaining ring member by the engaging teeth engaging with the engaging notches. The sealing ring member is disposed between the retaining ring member and the rotary ring member by the engaging teeth engaging with the engaging recessions. Consequently, the resilient ring member, the retaining ring member, the sealing ring member and the rotary ring member are successively mounted on the shaft tube in a longitudinal direction to constitute an inner modular structure.

  • Patent number: 6695315
Abstract: The invention relates to a single seal, and more specifically to a seal for a rotary shaft extending through a wall, e.g. that of a pump housing. The single seal exhibits one single sealing location between a fixed and a rotary sealing ring. The seal is fitted onto the wall by means of a flange in order to seal off a chamber inside the wall against the shaft and towards the exterior. According to the invention, the single seal exhibits an outer sealing ring (1) and an inner sealing ring (2). These sealing rings are in sliding and sealing contact with each other. The outer sealing ring (1) is fastened to the flange (12) and the inner sealing ring (2) is fastened to an axially displaceable sleeve (8). The sleeve is in turn affixed to and rotating with the shaft (22), and extends through the wall and the flange (12). The seal also has a spring device (5) arranged outside the wall and providing a force for increasing the contact between the sealing rings (1, 2).

The seal face segments may each have a nose that is held snugly by each holder half and is supported axially. Aligning pins received in aligning holes of the holder halves may be used to align the face segments. A fixture may be used to axially align the seal segments. A split o-ring and inner axial wall may be included that position the seal face concentrically with a shaft. Each holder half may have an integral band that clamps and also positions the face segments concentrically with the shaft. The walls of the holder halves may be stress-relieved proximate the junctions of the holder halves. A kit is provided for a rotary seal component with a rigidly mounted seal face. Another seal component includes a seal face comprising two seal face segments resiliently mounted in two holder halves.
