The outer side seal portion includes the outer side seal lip, and a side lip on an outer peripheral side of the outer side seal lip, and the outer side seal lip and the side lip extend from the outer side attachment ring toward the outer side and slidably abut the dust cover. The dust cover forms a gap between the dust cover and a flange portion of a bracket to which the inner side attachment ring is attached.

    Abstract: A seal system for a reciprocating cylinder includes a buffer seal, a rod seal, and a wiper seal. The buffer seal includes a dynamic seal lip and a static lip extending from a hinge portion. The hinge portion of the static lip allows fluid to escape past the outer diameter of the seal when the rod is retracted thereby releasing any pressure build-up between the rod seal and buffer seal. The axial face portion of the dynamic seal lip includes axially extending notches therein. The notches prevent the buffer seal from sticking to the axial wall of the groove and provide a consistent path for the fluid to energize the annular groove between the static and dynamic lips during the extension phase which is necessary for the function of the seal. The back-up ring is an integrated part of the buffer seal, used to provide superior extrusion resistance.

    Abstract: To stabilize frictional force to the reciprocating shaft without affecting sealing ability, a sealing device for a reciprocating shaft comprises a main lip 11, a whole periphery of which slidably and tightly contacts with an outer peripheral surface of a shaft 2 reciprocating in the axial direction; and a frictional lip 13, which extends to the sealed space A side from the main lip 11 and slidably and tightly contacts with the outer peripheral surface of the shaft 2 in the state of permitting circulation of sealed fluid, whereby the frictional force of the frictional lip 13 is not varied by pressure of the sealed fluid, while frictional force of the main lip 11 to the shaft 2 is varied by the pressure, the sliding surface is lubricated with the sealed fluid, and reduction of the frictional force by abrasion can be controlled.

    Abstract: A hydraulically balanced radial seal is configured so that the hydraulic pressure of the fluid being sealed causes the primary dynamic sealing lip to be axially stretched longer and also incorporates a secondary static sealing lip whose beaded interior locks into a receiving groove in the exterior surface of the dynamic sealing lip and effects a seal between the two lips. The secondary static sealing lip being so disposed as to cause it to be compressed and shortened by the hydraulic pressure of the fluid being sealed an amount comparable to that which the primary dynamic sealing lip is being stretched under the same pressure, keeping the two lips locked together.     Abstract: A seal system for a reciprocating cylinder includes a buffer seal, a rod seal, and a wiper seal. The buffer seal includes a dynamic seal lip and a static lip extending from a hinge portion. The hinge portion of the static lip allows fluid to escape past the outer diameter of the seal when the rod is retracted thereby releasing any pressure build-up between the rod seal and buffer seal. The axial face portion of the dynamic seal lip includes axially extending notches therein. The notches prevent the buffer seal from sticking to the axial wall of the groove and provide a consistent path for the fluid to energize the annular groove between the static and dynamic lips during the extension phase which is necessary for the function of the seal.
