  • Patent number: 11713818
Abstract: The decoking control valve includes a piston, a cylinder, and a hydraulic rod seal at the outlet ports. The piston can move translational inside the cylinder along a fixed direction. The cylinder houses the hydraulic rod seal in a groove of the cylinder that places the hydraulic rod seal next to the piston. The hydraulic rod seal has a seal ring in contact with the piston, and the seal rings are activated. As the piston translates within the cylinder, the seal ring will activate at one outlet port and allow fluid to flow out of another outlet port.

  • Patent number: 6224322
Abstract: In a centrifugal pump, a barrier ring in the form of a dynamic seal member is interposed between relatively rotating, generally circular wall portions which undergo relative axial movement to vary the width of a gap between the wall portions, the seal member having an outer jacket of flexible material and an annular spring member of frustoconical configuration inserted into offset grooves in the jacket, and when the seal member is mounted under compression between the confronting surfaces will follow the relative axial movement between the wall portions to maintain liquid-tight sealing engagement with the wall portions. In a modified form of invention, the seal member includes a pair of helical spring members inserted into grooves in an outer flexible jacket and, when the seal is mounted under compression between confronting surfaces of the wall portions as described will maintain liquid-tight sealing engagement notwithstanding variations in the width of the gap between members.

  • Patent number: 6173964
Abstract: A seal assembly seals a cylindrical clearance space between first and second coaxial members, and is installed in a coaxial annular groove in the first member. The groove has a mouth, first and second side walls, and a base wall extending therebetween. An elastomeric annular seal element has in toroidal cross-section an axial leg and a radial leg. The axial leg extends axially along the groove base wall and includes axial end portions and a mid-portion therebetween. The radial leg extends radially from the mid-portion toward and through the groove mouth, and has opposing side surfaces and a contact surface therebetween. The contact surface is outside the groove and sealingly contacts the second member. A non-elastomeric annular back-up element is positioned adjacent one of the seal element radial leg side surfaces, and prevents extrusion of the seal element when pressure is applied adjacent the other side surface.

  • Patent number: 5799953
Abstract: The present invention involves a seal ring for sealing an annular space between two components. The seal ring includes an annular jacket, a spring, and a cap. The jacket includes an annular cavity defined by two annular lips. The spring is disposed within the annular cavity of the jacket. The cap is disposed over the annular lips, and encapsulates the annular cavity. The spring biases the lips against the cap to thereby seal the annular cavity. Either the cap or the jacket includes a pair of annular channels, and the other includes a pair of annular projections, so that the projections and channels interfit to thereby lock together the cap and jacket. The cap and jacket are made from a polymer material, although not necessarily the same polymer material. The spring may be cantilevered, helical ribbon coil, slanted coil, or silicone filled with one or more spring elements. The lips of the jacket may have flanges to trap the spring in the annular cavity.
