Abstract: A seal member adapted to be mounted between a cylinder head cover and an ignition plug tube comprises a mount portion interposed radially movably between an upper surface of an annular stepped portion formed around an opening of the cylinder head cover for insertion of the ignition plug tube and a baffle plate. A first seal portion and a second seal portion project radially outward and inward, respectively, from the mount portion to be brought into contact with a peripheral surface of the annular stepped portion and the ignition plug tube, respectively. The second seal portion can be elastically deformed following relative radial movements between the mount portion and the ignition plug tube.

  • Patent number: 6641141
Abstract: A self contained anti-blowout seal includes a seal jacket having a static seal surface and a dynamic seal lip with a cavity therebetween. A retaining ring is provided and disposed, in part, within a cavity of the seal jacket and proximate the static seal surface for pressing the static seal surface against a mounting surface. The retaining ring includes a surface extending outside the cavity for bearing against a mounting surface and a depending portion is provided which extends over the cavity opening and includes at least one port communicating with the cavity for enabling a sealing medium to enter and exit the cavity as the seal is pressure energized. A biasing element is provided and disposed in the cavity for forcing the dynamic seal lip against a moving member.

  • Patent number: 6575471
Abstract: In a cylinder for a hydraulic system, a seal has a sealing bead clamped between a housing of the cylinder and a supporting part which holds the sealing bead in a deformed state by pretensioning. The seal is reliably held in its intended position by the supporting part and, therefore, pressure fluctuations in the pressure space do not cause a relative movement of the seal and wear of the sealing bead.
