  • Patent number: 7114727
Abstract: A seal assembly comprising an elastomeric gland having insert openings and fastener openings. Elastomeric inserts are removably disposed in the gland insert openings. The inserts have removable portions to form cable openings. Cable(s) can be placed in the cable openings. End plates are disposed at each end of the inserts and gland. The end plates are formed of complementary plate members, which, when mated together, form an unitized end plate having fastener openings and cable openings. Upon installing the seal assembly in an elongate container opening, fasteners, which extend through the gland and end plates, are tightened. The gland expands outward and contacts the wall forming the container opening. The gland constricts on the inserts, and, in turn, the inserts constrict on the cable(s) located in an insert.

  • Patent number: 6834998
Abstract: A rubber laminated bearing-seal, consisting of multiple flat or curved alternate laminations of metal and rubber bonded together and having an aperture, is seated in an apertured receptacle in the wall of a pressure vessel and supports a shaft that penetrates the apertures, extending from one side of the wall through to the other side. Shear strains in the rubber laminations permit the shaft to carry limited movements through the wall while the laminations seal against any flow of the liquid or gaseous medium on one side toward the other side and withstand the resulting thrust caused by large pressure differences. The torque reaction of this bearing-seal is essentially proportional to rotation angle. A potential use is in the intense hydrostatic pressure environment of undersea applications at great depths, carrying limited motion through the hull of a submersible craft.

  • Patent number: 6290231
Abstract: A diverter body having an upper portion, a central portion and a lower portion is secured to the upper end of a riser and lands in a housing. The central portion has lateral flow openings that axially align with a lateral flowline outlet in the housing. A pair of identical gallery seals locate above and below the lateral flowline outlet. The upper gallery seal is located between the upper portion, the central portion and the housing. The upper gallery seal has upper and lower metal rings and a central elastomer sandwiched therebetween. An outer diameter of the elastomer seals against the housing bore. The rings are symmetric and are mated to the elastomer along interfaces which are S-shaped in cross-section to form shoulders. The shoulders face radially inward.
