Spline Connection Patents (Class 277/912)
  • Patent number: 10495154
Abstract: A device for transmitting a torque between an internal combustion engine and a generator has a motor-side shaft, a generator-side shaft, a separate transmission element for transmitting the torque between the two shafts, and a seal device. The motor-side shaft and the generator-side shaft are situated in each case substantially coaxially with respect to one another and are in each case connected by way of a shaft-hub connection to the transmission element, wherein a lubricant chamber which is situated radially outside the transmission element and between the motor-side shaft and the generator-side shaft and which couples the two shaft-hub connections with regard to a flow of lubricant is sealed off with respect to the outside by the seal device.

  • Patent number: 7322579
Abstract: The present invention relates to seals and, in particular, to a seal that retains lubrication between the interface of a spline shaft and a sleeve shaft, which move relative to each other. The seal body has a flexible body with an axis and alternating projections and recesses aligned with the axis. A wiper element on at least one of the rows of projections and alternating recesses includes a tapered surface extending away from the axis, and an engagement face substantially perpendicular to the axis and adjoining the tapered surface.

  • Patent number: 7090584
Abstract: A slip spline boot for use in a constant velocity joint of a vehicle drive line includes a plurality of bellows. The plurality of bellows are arranged between a first and second end of the slip spline boot. The plurality of bellows have a specific peak to peak distance and a specific bellow angle for each of the bellows. The symmetrical boot will have the exact same peak to peak distance and bellow angle for each of the plurality of bellows on the slip spline boot. The slip spline boot is made of a high temperature high stiffness thermoplastic elastomer.

  • Patent number: 6802780
Abstract: A seal system and method are provided to protect a double-tube vehicle driveshaft, having first and second members containing intermeshing splined portions, from premature wear or corrosion. The seal system comprises first and second splined inner-portions wherein the diameter of the first splined inner-portion is greater than the diameter of the second splined inner-portion. In operation, at least a part of the splined portion of the first member is resident within the first splined inner-portion of the seal, and at least a part of the splined portion of the second member is telescopically resident within the second splined inner-portion of the seal. The seal method comprises fitting the first splined inner-portion of the seal around at least a part of the splined portion of the first member, and fitting the second splined inner-portion of the seal around at least a part of the splined portion of the second member.

  • Patent number: 6776421
Abstract: A fluid sealing system constructed according to the invention includes a fluid housing having at least the fluid ports disposed in laterally fixed, parallel relation to one another. Within each port there is disposed a fluid seal. At least two associated fluid conduits are provided having distal ends which are extendible into their associated fluid ports into sealing engagement with the fluid seals. A retaining plate supports the conduits in laterally spaced, parallel relationship with one another in such a way that the conduits can move relative to one another in the lateral direction to enable the conduits to be installed together as a bundled unit while enabling for adjustment in the lateral spacing of the conduits during installation to achieve matched alignment between the spacing of the conduits and the fixed spacing of the fluid ports.

  • Patent number: 6457786
Abstract: A roller assembly for an undercarriage of a work machine has a roller rim having central passage defined therein. The roller assembly also has a roller shaft positioned in the central passage of the roller rim. Moreover, the roller assembly has a retainer secured to the roller rim so as to retain the roller shaft in the central passage. The retainer is prepared by a process including the steps of (i) arranging a first type of metal powder in a first predetermined location, (ii) arranging a second type of metal powder in a second predetermined location, the second type of metal powder being different than the first type of metal powder, and (iii) sintering both the first type of metal powder and the second type of metal powder. A method of manufacturing a roller assembly of an undercarriage assembly is also disclosed.
