Abstract: A multi-purpose tool holder is described, which includes an elongated cylindrical barrel having a non-circular socket in one end for attachment of the barrel to a ratchet-type turning implement. The other end of the barrel forms a slideway for two transversely adjustable jaws that have facing V-shaped grooves designed to grip tool shanks of varying size and shape. An adjusting screw is provided for each jaw, such that the jaws can be held in selected positions of adjustment. The elongated barrel is usable between a turning implement and tool shank gripped by the adjustable jaws. The elongated barrel can also be used as a handle to perform a tool turning operation. For this purpose various sockets are formed in the side surface of the barrel. The shanks of selected tools can be selectively inserted into the various sockets to operatively connect the barrel to the tool.
Abstract: An adapter for converting a standard machine vise into a set-up orthogonal collet fixture including front and back members that bolt to the vise jaws after the vise jaw plates have been removed, an internally tapered sleeve in the back member for engaging a taper on a standard 5C Collet, a take-up nut seated in the same member for engaging threads on the end of the collet to hold the collet, and a cam for moving the sleeve relative to the collet as the vise is closed causing the front member to move toward the back member pulling or pushing the sleeve over the collet thereby causing the collet to clamp the workpiece.
Abstract: A collet attachment apparatus for a lathe machine tool including a collet holder for engagement of a spring collet, a nose collet adapter chuck to be fastened to a standard master chuck for engagement of a collet holder. A rear spindle draw tube adapter fastens to a hydraulic actuator to cause axial movement of a drawbar and exert or release pressure on the spring collet. Various lock ring means are utilized to limit the axial movement of the drawbar and ultimately the pressure on the collet.
Abstract: A hand machine tool has a rotatable spindle having a longitudinal axis and provided with a cone and an annular surface extending at an angle to the longitudinal axis, a tool holder having a conical opening which surrounds the cone, torque-transmitting elements provided between the spindle and the tool holder, and locking elements cooperating with the ring surface of the spindle, the locking elements being formed as spring wire members.
Abstract: A machine tool having a quick release draw tube includes a headstock with a spindle. A draw tube is slidably supported within the spindle and includes inner and outer surfaces. The draw tube includes a series of circumferentially spaced holes on the outer surface thereof. A draw tube locking or unlocking device cooperates with the spindle and includes a ball detent that is selectively received in one of the recesses provided on the draw tube for locking the same within the spindle. The machine tool also includes an adapter plate for mounting over the extended nose of the spindle for substituting a collet by a jaw chuck.
