  • Patent number: 5437465
Abstract: A spindle sleeve (4) is provided for the rotary operation in a tool changing device on a hand-operated machine tool, especially a drill hammer for optional operation with a hammer drill or with another tool. To make rapid tool change possible with a simple design, a locking body (7), which co-rotates with the spindle sleeve (4), is mounted in at least one perforation (6) of the spindle sleeve (4). An adapter (14), on which the corresponding tool can be fixed, can be axially inserted into the spindle sleeve (4) with a guide surface (22, 23), and has depressions (13) for the locking bodies (7) for nonrotatable and axially nondisplaceable connection to the spindle sleeve (4). An outer sleeve (8), which blocks the locking bodies (7) in the depressions (13) in a locking position and radially releases them in its release position, is displaceably arranged on the spindle sleeve (4).

  • Patent number: 5322302
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for mounting a saw-blade provided with an opening to a carrier which is connected to a drive device to make a reciprocating movement, wherein the device comprises: a wall extending in the direction of movement which is suitable for contact with a side of the saw-blade; a mounting body which is rotatable opposite the wall around a shaft extending perpendicularly of the direction of movement and parallel to the wall and which is provided with a protrusion which is movable into the opening arranged in the saw-blade; and urging means for urging the mounting body to a mounting position wherein the protrusion extends into the opening arranged in the saw-blade. Mounting takes place because via the sphere the saw-blade generates a moment in clockwise direction relative to the shaft. This moment is counteracted by a moment that is generated by the friction between the actuating rod and the contact surface.

  • Patent number: 5316323
Abstract: The tool holding cartridge is male and the second cartridge holding part is female and defines a cylindrical bore with diametrically opposed apertures near the forward face of the bore, the apertures carrying ball bearings, biased, so that a substantial portion of the ball bearing intersects and projects into the cylindrical bore. Those portions of the ball bearings that do so, act as a guide and locking means for the tool holding cartridge which has a cylindrical shaft which extends into a tool holding portion into which a tool may be anchored or secured, as may be required. The tool holding cartridge has, along the outer walls of the cylindrical portion thereof, near the proximate end of the cylindrical portion, a circumferential race that intersects with the proximate ends of two diametrically opposed axially oriented lead raceways defined in the outer perimeter of the cylindrical portion and that terminate at the outer shoulder and peripheral wall at distal end of the cylindrical portion.

  • Patent number: 5188378
Abstract: A chuck for polygonal shank ends of tools, has a bushing (5) which transmits the drive force and corresponds in its cavity (8) to the polygon cross section of the shank end (32). The bushing has a window-shaped opening in which a ball (22) is arranged as pressing member which acts on the shank. Behind the bushing there is arranged an actuating sleeve (11) which is displaceable against spring action and which lies in front of support shoulders in the region of the inner edge of the opening (23). In order to obtain an optimal form of use, the ball (22) is more than twice as great as the width of the corner recess (31) lying in the axial direction of the shank. The clamping surface (19) is inclined in wedge shape in the direction of action of the spring, and extends at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the chuck which lies within a self-locking region.

  • Patent number: 4946179
Abstract: The invention is a self-gradually locking chuck for drills and similar devices. It is particularly suitable for portable drills in surgical use. The chuck has a cylindrical sleeve that can be fixed axially to the shaft of a drill and predominantly tapering ferrule with lobes. The ferrule can be axially engaged with the sleeve. Means for centering a tool and at least one spring are located within a hollow space in the sleeve. The chuck also has a mounting with a passage and holes for housing jaws. The mounting and the ferrule are axially movable with respect to each other and the sleeve. Jaws, located in the holes and urged toward the axis of the chuck by the lobes, hold a tool that has been inserted between the jaws. The chuck further has an annular ring which can be screwed onto an externally threaded portion of the mounting projecting from the ferrule. The annular ring serves to engage the tool in a locked condition to prevent accidental release of the tool by the chuck.
