Patent number: 11465216Abstract: A tool holding section opposite the first section with a bore formed in the tool holding section adapted for receiving the shank of the tool. A plurality of stress rods positioned around the bore and comprising a thermal rate of expansion less than a thermal rate of expansion of the tool holding section. The plurality of stress rods form corresponding bulges on the surface of the bore to decrease the inner diameter of the bore to mechanically lock the shank of the tool in the bore.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2022Date of Patent: October 11, 2022Assignee: Techniks, LLCInventor: Scott Worthington

Patent number: 11045883Abstract: A collet assembly of improved stability has a collet, an axial limiting assembly, a cutter, a pin, and multiple damping elements. The collet has a containing space, a pin-receiving groove, a connecting groove, and multiple receiving grooves. The containing space is formed through the collet. The pin-receiving groove is formed through the collet. The connecting groove is recessed on the collet. The multiple receiving grooves are recessed in the collet. The axial limiting assembly is mounted to the collet. The cutter has a limiting groove and a mounting end. The limiting groove is recessed on the cutter. The mounting end abuts against the limiting assembly. The pin extends into the pin-receiving groove and abuts against the limiting groove of the cutter. Each one of the multiple damping elements is received in a respective one of the multiple receiving grooves of the collet. A collet of improved stability is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2019Date of Patent: June 29, 2021Assignee: SHIN-YAIN INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD.Inventor: Pen-Hung Chen

Publication number: 20030057662Abstract: A hard carbon film (15) is formed directly or through an intermediate layer for enhancing adhesion over an inner surface (11b) of a guide bush (11) for holding a workpiece (51) rotatably and axially slidable on an automatic lathe at a position near a cutting tool, to be in sliding contact with the workpiece (51) or directly or through an intermediate layer for enhancing adhesion on the surface of a superhard lining fixed to the inner surface (11b) The guide bush (11) has remarkably enhanced durability and prevents damaging the workpiece (51) and seizing that makes a machining operation impossible even when the guide bush (11) is used for an extended period of time and when the automatic lathe operates for heavy machining.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 1997Publication date: March 27, 2003Applicant: miyaInventors: YUKIO MIYA, OSAMU SUGIYAMA, RYOTA KOIKE, TAKASHI TOIDA, SOSAKU KIMURA, KUNIHIKO KOKUBO

Patent number: 6343901Abstract: A rotary device has a releasable tool holder. A spindle with two ends has one end adapted to secure to a rotary device and the other includes a bore to receive a tool. A mechanism to retain and release the tool from the spindle bore is coupled with the spindle adjacent the bore end. At least two unlike retention members to apply a force on the tool in the bore are adjacent the bore. A sleeve surrounds the bore end of the spindle as well as the at least two unlike retention members. The sleeve has a common surface to apply a force on the at least two unlike retention members such that when the sleeve is axially moved along the spindle, the force is varied with respect to the position of the surface on the retention member. This force maintains the tool in the bore or enables the tool to be removed from the bore. A biasing member maintains the sleeve in a retention position on the spindle.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2001Date of Patent: February 5, 2002Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Dale K. Patent number: 6264209Abstract: The invention provides a guide bush wherein a cemented carbide alloy containing at least cobalt is provided on an inner surface thereof for holding a workpiece rotatably and slidably in the longitudinal axial direction thereof in close proximity of a cutting tool, and a DLC film is formed over the cemented carbide alloy, cobalt being removed from the surface of the cemented carbide alloy, adjoining the DLC film. By forming the DLC film 15 on the surface of the cemented carbide alloy 12 from which cobalt has been removed, with an intermediate layer formed therebetween, adhesiveness of the DLC film against the cemented carbide alloy fixedly attached to the inner surface of the guide bush is further enhanced.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1999Date of Patent: July 24, 2001Assignee: Citizen Watch Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yukio Miya, Osamu Sugiyama, Ryota Koike, Takashi Toida

Patent number: 6234491Abstract: A liner for a power tool holder has a wall which defines an interior and an exterior periphery. The interior periphery is sized to receive a tool shaft and the exterior periphery is sized to fit within a tool holder. The liner protects the tool shafts from marring, nicking or the like while being frictionally held by the tool holder.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1999Date of Patent: May 22, 2001Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventor: Dale K. Patent number: 6227549Abstract: A chuck jaw that is configured and arranged to be used in combination with other chuck jaws for securely retaining a rotatable accessory, such as a drill bit, in position in a chuck assembly, where the chuck jaw includes a chuck jaw body that defines a generally longitudinal axis along the primary extension direction thereof and a chuck jaw tip that is positioned within the chuck jaw body and extends along at least a portion of the generally longitudinal axis of the chuck jaw body. The chuck jaw further includes an insulating material for preventing electrical current from passing between the rotatable accessory and the remainder of the chuck assembly via the chuck jaw.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2000Date of Patent: May 8, 2001Assignee: S-B Power Tool CompanyInventor: Timothy P.
