Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a synthetic continuous filament textured yarn is disclosed, and wherein the yarn is wetted prior to entering the texturizing nozzle. To effect a uniform and controllable wetting, the yarn is passed over a guide surface so that the filaments are laterally spread apart, and a jet of water is directed onto the advancing yarn from a direction opposing the guide surface.
Abstract: An apparatus 10 and related process for enhancement of woven and knit fabrics through use of dynamic fluids which entangle and bloom fabric yarns. A two stage enhancement process is employed in which top and bottom sides of the fabric are respectively supported on members 22, 34 and impacted with a fluid curtain including high pressure jet streams. Controlled process energies and use of support members 22, 34 having open areas 26, 36 which are aligned in offset relation to the process line produces fabrics having a uniform finish and improved characteristics including, edge fray, drape, stability, abrasion resistance, fabric weight and thickness.

Abstract: A conductive fabric comprising conductive fibers and thermoplastic fibers with a higher heat shrinkage than that of said conductive fibers, said conductive fibers being crimped by heat shrinkage of said thermoplastic fibers. This invention also provides a conductive sheet or film comprising the conductive fabric and a base on which said conductive fabric is disposed, said conductive fabric and said base that are laminated together being fused into one piece by being heated at a temperature above the melting point of the thermoplastic fibers and melting said thermoplastic fibers.
Abstract: A process for forming crepe fabrics on a shuttleless loom is provided which includes temporary stabilization of highly twisted (e.g., 40-70 TPI) filament yarn. To this end, hot melt size is applied at a predetermined temperature in predetermined amounts (e.g., add-on of about 10.5-13.5%) immediately after twisting so as to reduce the liveliness of the yarn and to thereby permit it to be woven. After weaving, the yarn stabilization is reversed by a desizing operation. The fabric is subsequently heat treated to develop crepe characteristics.
Abstract: Heat-set woven diaphragms based on polyvinyl chloride, well adapted for the electrolysis of hydrochloric acid, comprise:(a) a combination of warp threads and weft threads woven into a cloth weave and having a number of crossings per square centimeter ranging from 270 to 350;(b) warp threads and the weft threads which comprise a mixture of atactic polyvinyl chloride and superchlorinated polyvinyl chloride;(c) an average thickness of from 0.5 to 0.7 mm; and(d) high creasing resistance.
Abstract: Ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene fibers of high tenacity and modulus shrink controlled amounts at temperatures in the range of 100.degree.-145.degree. C. Fabrics and twisted multifilament yarns of these fibers are heat-shrunk or heat-set at these temperatures.

Abstract: A directional electrostatic dissipating fabric and method of making such fabric constructed of a woven or knitted base fabric having an integrally woven or knitted grid structure which is raised above only one surface of the base fabric forming a fabric with a raised grid on one side and a smooth or substantially smooth grid on the other side thereby resulting in increased, directional electrostatic dissipation performance from the side having the raised grid. The grid is formed from an electroconductive yarn plied to a carrier yarn which is then integrally woven or knitted into the fabric in the warp direction, the fill direction or both, thereby producing a fabric which exhibits the rapid, yet controlled, directional dissipation of static electricity into the air.
