Patent number: 10982357Abstract: Various examples are provided for non-stop tying-in process for weaving of textiles. In one example, a method for non-stop tying-in of loom warps during operation of a loom includes providing free ends of a replacement warp sheet and a warp sheet tail to the tying-in machine during the operation of the loom, where the warp sheet tail is provided through a warp accumulator; accumulating the warp sheet tail in the warp accumulator during tying-in of the free ends; supplying at least a portion of the warp sheet tail accumulated by the warp accumulator to the loom after being released from a warp beam; removing the tied-in warp sheet tail and replacement warp sheet from the warp accumulator; and supplying the replacement warp sheet to the loom during its operation.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2018Date of Patent: April 20, 2021Assignee: North Carolina State UniversityInventors: Abdel-Fattah M. Patent number: 5430916Abstract: An apparatus and method for effecting a warp change in weaving machines involves clamping the warp yarns of a new warp on a tying-in frame by way of clamping members. In addition, the warp yarns of the woven-out warp, the end portion of which has previously been pulled forwards over a specific length, are lifted over the tying-in frame and laid onto a roller assigned to the clamping members. The warp yarns of the woven-out warp are then fixed on the roller and pulled back out of the weaving machine over the specific length as a result of the rotation of this roller. These operations can be carried out by a single person, so that the warp change is simplified substantially. The tying-in frame and roller are mounted on a common carrier which is mountable on a warp-beam transport unit.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1993Date of Patent: July 11, 1995Assignee: Zellweger Luwa AGInventors: Martin Plaschy, Reinhard Furrer

Patent number: 5297323Abstract: A device for joining a large number of threads on a single frame. Each of a plurality of thread clamps has a guide tube communicating with a vacuum duct. A carriage for carrying a thread joining system is arranged on the frame. As the carriage moves along the frame to a selected position a thread clamp is released and the released thread is moved by a pivot threading arm to the joining system.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1991Date of Patent: March 29, 1994Assignee: Rhone-Poulenc Viscosuisse S.A.Inventor: Markus Jaeggi

Patent number: 5111851Abstract: When a warp is broken during weaving on a loom, the broken warp is mended and restored by a method of restoring a broken warp after mending the same, comprising steps of connecting a mending yarn to the trailing portion of the broken warp to form a mended warp; cutting a normal warp which has been drawn through the same slit between dents as the broken warp is to be drawn through and inserting a mending yarn with a sufficient length between the cut ends of the normal warp, tying the mending yarn connected to the trailing portion of the broken warp to the normal warp drawn through the same slit between the dents as the broken warp is to be drawn through; and pulling the normal warp toward the take-up side so that the mended warp and the normal warp are tightened properly. Thus, the mended warp is drawn through the slit between the dents together with the normal warp.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1991Date of Patent: May 12, 1992Assignee: Tsudakoma Corp.Inventor: Yujiro Takegawa

Patent number: 4817675Abstract: A method and mechanism for repairing warp thread breaks in a weaving loom in which a broken warp thread is detected by a fallen drop wire of a warp stop motion device, the method comprising: upon the falling of a drop wire, taking a new warp thread from a supply of warp thread separate from the loom supply of warp thread, and moving the new warp thread to a position between the warp stop motion device and the harness of the loom by a rethreading mechanism; raising the fallen drop wire and threading a first end of the new warp thread through the raised drop wire by the rethreading mechanism; and threading a second end of the new warp thread through a heddle of the harness corresponding to the broken warp thread.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1987Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: Picanol N.V.Inventors: Stefan Dewaele, Dirk Gryson

Patent number: 4805276Abstract: A tying machine includes a tying device, grippers for two groups of warp threads (K.sub.a, K.sub.n) which are to be tied together and a device for separating the outermost warp thread of each group and moving it out of the plane of the warp. In the region between the separating device and a gripper, the warp threads are guided over a thread guide where the outermost warp thread is deflected and moved out of the plane of the warp. A measuring device for measuring the force exerted by a deflected warp thread on the point of deflection or on the separating device is arranged in the region of deflection, and the signal of this measuring device serves as criterion for the presence of a double thread. The measuring device may be a piezoelectric pressure convertor or an elongation measuring strip or a piezo sensor which is sensitive to deflection. Thus, the measuring device is virtually unaffected by dirt or dust.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1986Date of Patent: February 21, 1989Assignee: Zellweger Uster Ltd.Inventor: Martin Plaschy

Patent number: 4569543Abstract: A knotting arrangement, especially for spool frames for warping and other textile machines in which the orbital knotting head is connected to a suction tube and has a freely movable clamping body, e.g. a ball, therein which, when air pressure is supplied to the suction tube can press the ball against a seat to hold the yarn end. The clamping body is not connected to any elements within the head and may be drawn by magnetic force against the seat.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1984Date of Patent: February 11, 1986Assignee: Hacoba Textilmaschinen GmbH & Co KGInventors: Karl-Heinz Kohlen, Rolf Vieten

Patent number: 4175307Abstract: A thread gripper comprising at least two frictionally coacting clamping surfaces for engaging and holding threads at a textile machine, such as a warp-tying machine and the like, wherein the thread gripper performs predetermined movements. Means serve to alter the intensity of the frictional force applied by the clamping surfaces in a predetermined manner as a function of the path through which the thread gripper moves.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1978Date of Patent: November 27, 1979Assignee: Zellweger Uster AGInventor: Alois Altenweger

Patent number: 4152815Abstract: An apparatus for dividing warp threads or ends by means of leases, comprising a first divider element or first divider means for separating a momentary edge thread from a sheet of warp threads or warp. The first divider element in conjunction with lease means, for instance constituted by lease cords, after separating a thread, changing its position relative to the sheet of warp threads in such a manner that all warp threads following the edge warp thread are displaced away therefrom. There is provided a second divider or separator element which is only capable of engaging a thread separated by the first divider element, possibly even a thread of a thread pair separated by the first divider element. The first divider element changes its position in a predetermined manner relative to the sheet of warp threads in dependency upon a programming device containing a program carrier.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1978Date of Patent: May 8, 1979Assignee: Zellweger Uster Ltd.Inventor: Alois Altenweger

Patent number: 4082328Abstract: An apparatus for tying a knot in the ends of a pair of filaments or yarns comprising a hollow element having an open end and an opening adjacent to the open end, the opening and the open end being connected by a slot. A second element movable relative to the first element is provided with a projection for engaging the ends of the pair of filaments or yarns and wrapping these ends around the hollow element in such a manner that a first wrap lies over the slot and a second wrap lies over the opening. A first hook movably mounted on the second element is provided for engaging the second wrap lying across the opening and pulling it out through the open end of the first element to form a knot in the filaments, while a second hook is provided for engaging that portion of the yarn extending across the slot and moving it to a position adjacent to a filament clamp holding the filaments.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1977Date of Patent: April 4, 1978Assignee: Monsanto CompanyInventor: Peter Geoffrey Williams
