Patent number: 7568266Abstract: The invention relates to an entanglement nozzle and to a method for producing fine knotted yarn with highly regular knots by means of air jets comprising a yarn treatment channel. According to said method, air is blown transversally to the yarn treatment channel. Said blown air forms a respective double swirl both in the yarn transport direction and against the yarn transport direction for creating the knots. According to the invention, upon entry into the yarn treatment channel, the blown air is converted into two intense, stationary eddy currents that are not disrupted by filament bundles, in an air swirling chamber that only extends for a short distance in the longitudinal direction of the yarn channel. The regularity of the knots can be significantly improved, despite the tiny dimensions of the air swirling chamber, which projects beyond the longitudinal wall of the yarn channel for a maximum 0.5 mm or for 5% to 22% of the width (B) of said channel.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2006Date of Patent: August 4, 2009Assignee: Oerlikon Heberlein Temco Wattwil AGInventor: Christian Simmen

Patent number: 6112387Abstract: A yarn treatment jet has a yarn passage extending through the body of the jet and a fluid inlet intersecting the yarn passage transversely. In cross-section the yarn passage has a main part and a substantially parallel sided yarn controlling part which is of lesser width than the main part. The width of the fluid inlet is greater than that of the controlling part but less than that of the main part. The yarn is guided to run in the yarn controlling part which the fluid inlet intersects and the fluid is directed past the running yarn in the direction of the main part. The yarn guides are movable towards and away from the inlet and outlet ends of the yarn passage. A curved threading slot connects the controlling part with the outside of the jet.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1999Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Assignee: Fibreguide LimitedInventors: Malcolm Geoffrey Hinchliffe, Reginald Leah

Patent number: 5140729Abstract: The device has a guide unit (1) enclosing a through hole with a conical inlet section (2). A needle unit (3) encloses a through yarn passage (4) arranged coaxially with the hole in the guide unit (1). One end of the needle unit (3) extends into the conical inlet section (2) and has a conical peripheral area (5) which, with the wall of the inlet section (2), forms a slot (6) for a blowing agent. The blowing agent is fed through a drilling (17) opening into the annular space (18) surrounding the needle unit (3) are pressed together by an elastic load, e.g. springs (11, 12). This arrangement accurately fixes the axial position of the guide unit (1) in relation to the needle unit (3), while the width of the slot (6) is accurately predetermined and unchangeable.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1991Date of Patent: August 25, 1992Assignee: Heberlein Maschinenfabrik AGInventor: Christian Simmen

Patent number: 4412371Abstract: A traveling yarn is introduced into a yarn treatment chamber, such as a texturing device, wherein essentially standard treatment temperatures are being employed, the yarn traveling at standard speeds and temperatures for the treatment process carried out in the treatment chamber. The yarn is caused to pass through, out of, and away from the yarn treatment chamber. This is accomplished by first capturing the traveling yarn and positioning the captured traveling yarn in front of the inlet orifice of the yarn treatment chamber at a tension of 0.025 gram/dtex to 0.35 gram/dtex. Then the captured traveling yarn is cut and simultaneously directed into and through the yarn treatment chamber by means of an external propelling fluid. Finally, the treated yarn is conveyed away from the yarn treatment chamber.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1981Date of Patent: November 1, 1983Assignee: Badische CorporationInventors: Gerry A. Patent number: 4240188Abstract: A process and a device for interlacing multifilament yarns includes forwang the yarn through an interlacing zone, to which an interlacing air jet is also conveyed through a nozzle, in a non-rectilinear trajectory which is essentially planar and symmetrical with respect to the jet axis, and under tension. The resultant of the tension forces have a line of application which ideally coincides with the jet axis and a direction opposite to that of the jet. The jet is so directed as to contact the yarn in a zone about the point of application of the resultant force. The nozzle includes an orifice located at the vertex of a convex surface directed towards the yarn trajectory, and means for guiding the yarn near the nozzle and for limiting the freedom of motion of the yarn.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1979Date of Patent: December 23, 1980Assignee: SNIA VISCOSA Societa Nazionale Industria Applicazioni Viscosa S.p.A.Inventor: Giuseppe Zoina

Patent number: 4099307Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing slubby strands in which a textile strand is passed either over a surface or through a slubbing tool. The surface, if employed, may include a plurality of fluid passages positioned therein. As the strand passes over the surface or through the slubbing tool, high pressure fluid is introduced onto the surface of and through the strand. The high pressure fluid passes through the strand. This passage of fluid through the strand causes the strand to twist and bulk along its length to form a slub which is rapidly removed from the working surface of the slubbing surface or tool as a consolidated slub positioned on the strand. When a surface is employed, the surface may be a moving surface and when the surface includes a plurality of fluid passages, the passages may be vented at a point below the surface. Various apparatus for carrying out the novel method are disclosed as is the novel strand produced thereby.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1977Date of Patent: July 11, 1978Assignee: PPG Industries, Inc.Inventors: Herbert W. Barch, August G. Bohy
