  • Patent number: 9937408
Abstract: A wearable motorized device comprising a shoe bracket, which has a ring-shaped structure and can be fastened to the middle part of a shoe; a wheel, which rotatably supports the shoe bracket to enable lateral skating and longitudinal walking; a driving motor, which rotationally drives the wheel; and a battery pack, which powers the driving motor. The wheels are not coaxially installed on the two sides of the shoe bracket to drive the wearer's longitudinal skating, but are installed on the ring-shaped shoe bracket, which can be fastened to the middle part of the shoe, to support the wearer's lateral skating and longitudinal walking. This way, the wearer can position his/her legs apart during skating; such that the skating stability is improved. Moreover, its general contour does not significantly exceed the contour of the shoe in the longitudinal direction, thus it will not strain the wearer when ascending or descending stairs.

  • Patent number: 8613453
Abstract: A wheel skate device having a foot platform, a frame, and a ring-shaped wheel. The user operates a pair of the wheel skate devices while standing with one foot on each foot platform. The foot platform is movable between an in-use position and a stowage position. In the in-use position. the foot platform interlocks with the frame and can be secured with a locking pin. A pair of the wheel skate devices in stowage position can be connected together as a single unit using a connecting piece, which may have an attached strap for carrying or hanging. A mechanism which limits the wheel to rolling in only one direction, and an elastic band linking two wheel skate devices together to prevent the user's feet from accidentally moving too far apart, are useful learning aids.

  • Patent number: 7980568
Abstract: Two skate wheel devices each with a foot placement platform, a frame and a wheel. The wheel rotates relative to the frame. The user inserts both feet into respective platforms within the skate wheel devices while the devices rest on pavement. After shifting weight to one of the wheel skate devices, the other raised so that the foot is generally horizontal as opposed to pointing to the pavement. The wheel skate device with the raised foot is then rolled to the side. The user then raises the other wheel skate device so that its foot also points generally horizontally and rolls that wheel skate device in the same direction as the other to build momentum. The platform may rock back and forth relative to the wheel. Grooved rollers may be sandwiched between spaced apart frame elements.

Abstract: Shoes with various configurations of rollers secured to one region of their soles for rolling, while leaving another sole region exposed for walking. The rollers are mounted to rotate about an axle defining a primary axis of rotation extending at an angle of between about zero and 45 degrees to the walking direction, as viewed from above the shoe, for rolling sideways along a support surface. This provides a combined running-rolling method of locomotion, by running on the exposed sole surfaces, and then jumping into a “surfing” stance for rolling. In some cases, the rollers are mounted on steerable truck assemblies. One particularly small truck assembly includes wedge-shaped bushings for steering compliance.

  • Patent number: 6382640
Abstract: A mono-wheel skate device with wheel mounted in a latitudinal direction. The axis of rotation of the wheel is aligned with the axis that runs between the boot toe and the boot heel. The direction of the wheel is perpendicular to the axis that runs between the boot toe and the boot heel and the wheel rim spins on guide wheel members connected to a guide wheel support member which connect to a protective boot. The user balances the device by continuously correcting the orientation of each boot. For example when the user feels himself/herself falling forward out of balance, the user moves his/her feet in such a way as to bring his/her toes closer together which tracks the boots forward of the original line of motion and thus regaining balance. The user must be in a state of constant correction which with practice will become natural and reflex. This device moves the user in a sideways direction and it is up to the user to decide to move to the user's right or to the user's left.
