Abstract: In a wheel barrow having a load carrying container disposed between a rotatable wheel and a handle, an adapter apparatus is disclosed for assisting transportation of the wheelbarrow. The adapter apparatus includes a frame having a first and a second end and an axle having a first and a second side. The axle extends through the frame and the rotatable wheel such that the rotatable wheel rotates about the axle. Additionally, the axle pivotally supports the wheel barrow such that pivotal movement of the wheel barrow about the axle and relative to the frame is permitted. A rotatable device is secured to the frame so that the container is disposed between the axle and the rotatable device. The arrangement is such that in a first mode of operation of the apparatus, the wheel barrow is supported by the frame and is transported on the rotatable wheel and the rotatable device for transportation of the load disposed within the container.

  • Patent number: 6364328
Abstract: A hand truck convertible into either one of a cart and an inclined cart includes a primary frame having a first pair of wheels rotatably mounted thereon. A secondary frame is pivotally attached to the primary frame and has at least one additional wheel rotatably mounted thereon. A connecting member is attached to the secondary frame. A first locking mechanism is attached to the primary frame and detachably secures the secondary frame to the primary frame while the secondary frame is in the hand-truck-position and while the secondary frame is in the inclined-cart-position. A second locking mechanism is attached to the primary frame and detachably secures the connecting member to the primary frame while the secondary frame is in the inclined-cart-position. Alternatively, a channel is formed in the primary frame and the connecting member is slidably engaged with the channel.

Abstract: A suitcase has first rollers mounted thereon to at least partially support the suitcase when in an upright position and to enable rolling movement of the suitcase across a surface. The first end of an arm is pivotally mounted to a rigid body portion of the suitcase. Second rollers are mounted about adjacent to the second end of the arm to enable rolling movement of the suitcase across the surface. A first link is pivotally mounted to the rigid body portion, and a second link is pivotally mounted to the first link and the arm. The arm is alternately retractable to a retracted position about adjacent to a rear panel of the suitcase, and deployable to a deployed position spaced outwardly from the rear panel. The first and second rollers cooperate to fully support the suitcase when the second rollers are deployed and the suitcase is in a rolling position. A push/pull handle is mounted on the suitcase to enable a user to roll the suitcase across the surface.

  • Patent number: 6296260
Abstract: A supplemental wheel for a golf bag cart including a mounting block that is securable to a lower bag support of a golf bag cart. The mounting block has a generally rectangular configuration defined by a short top wall, a short bottom wall, long opposed front and rear walls, and right and left side faces. The mounting block includes an angular cut-out extending from the short bottom wall through the long rear wall. The short top wall is securable to the lower bag support whereby the cut-out is disposed in an essentially parallel relationship with a recipient surface that the golf bag cart is position on. A swivel wheel assembly is secured to the cut-out formed on the mounting block. The swivel wheel has a braking mechanism coupled therewith.

  • Patent number: 6241276
Abstract: An auxiliary wheel assembly for permitting utilization of a wheel barrow as a wagon. The auxiliary wheel assembly includes a pair of support arms adapted for coupling to a wheelbarrow. Each of the support arms has a plurality of uniformly spaced apertures extending through it. An axle extends through an opposed pair of the apertures of the support arms. A pair of wheels are rotatably coupled to the axle and are positioned towards opposite free ends of the axle. In an alternate embodiment, an axle extends generally horizontally and is positioned towards apertures through resting arms of an existing wheelbarrow. A pair of wheels are rotatably coupled to the axle and are positioned towards opposite free ends of the axle. A pair of generally U-shaped bolts couple the axle to the resting arms. The bolts extend around the axle. Free ends of the bolts extend through adjacent pairs of apertures of the resting arms.

  • Patent number: 6227553
Abstract: An attachment assembly provides a secure attachment point for the fall arrest tether lines of safety harnesses of workers on flat roofs, the assembly being movable over the roof as required. The assembly can be used alone, but usually is mounted on a wheeled utility cart as employed by roofers to move materials on the roof, or may be an integral part of such a cart. The assembly has a base frame that is spaced from the roof edge over which the worker may fall. An attachment member for tether lines is mounted on the base frame together with at least two longitudinally spaced surface engaging arm, the arms being located at the frame side nearer to the roof edge. When the assembly is in operative position each arm has its lower end, which usually has teeth, close to the roof surface. A counterweight is mounted on the opposite side of the base frame.
