Pivoting To Nonuse Position With Single Draft Member Patents (Class 280/491.3)
  • Publication number: 20020113407
Abstract: A frame apparatus and system that provides the use of standard tractor-mounted agricultural and industrial work implements with a pickup truck or comparable flat-bed vehicle. Disclosed embodiments provide for the use of commercially available short-line front-end loaders and various effectors suitably adapted for use therewith. The system can be mounted and dismounted with implements attached, and connects to the host vehicle via a bed-mounted gooseneck hitch and frame- or bumper-mounted square hitch receiver.

  • Patent number: 6409201
Abstract: In order to provide a trailer coupling for motor vehicles, comprising a bearing part arranged fixed to the vehicle and a pivotal part mounted on the bearing part and having a ball neck and a coupling ball, the pivotal part being pivotal in relation to the bearing part about an axis between a rest position and an operative position, in such a way that this trailer coupling may be fixed in the operative position securely and simply, it is proposed that the pivotal part has two abutting elements arranged spaced from one another, that the bearing part is provided with two supporting elements and that, to fix the ball neck in the operative position, one of the supporting elements and one of the abutting elements cooperate such that the ball neck undergoes a pivotal movement in a first direction which is countered by the other of the supporting elements and the other of the abutting elements, and that in so doing the abutting elements and the supporting elements are able to abut against one another without play.

  • Patent number: 6364337
Abstract: Disclosed is a trailer hitch adapter system that may be used to convert a standard trailer into a trailer having a pivoting hitch tongue. The system preferably comprises a hitch tongue that is movable between two positions: an out-of-the-way storage position and a towing position. When in the towing position, the hitch tongue does not increase the overall length of the trailer. When the hitch tongue is in the towing position, the tongue can be attached to the hitch of a towing vehicle so that the trailer may be towed.

  • Publication number: 20020017770
Abstract: The present invention discloses a receptacle mounted at a predetermined location for storing various tow hitch apparatuses and assemblies. Behind the mounting surface, the area may be hollow such as a standard dwelling wall or solid such as a brick or concrete wall found in a basement. Furthermore, the invention may be mounted on a floor or wall of a vehicle storage compartment. The dimensions of the invention are such that it can in one embodiment receive the standard two inch male connector and in other embodiments receive other standard male portions of a tow hitch apparatus. In particular, the invention is designed to receive the various racks that have become popular for carrying sports equipment. These rigid racks attach to the standard trailer hitch receptacle found on many vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6332626
Abstract: This invention is a multi use tow bar for towing one vehicle behind the other, which is very simple in design in that it consists of a single (segmented) shaft which is rigidly attached to the rear of the towing vehicle (with a single component attachment device), a simple vertically rotating joint, and a rearward long shaft segment which is attached to the center of the front of the towed vehicle by a single coupler/ball. This tow bar is suitable for a broad range of situations where one vehicle tows another vehicle on a continuing basis and ease of attachment and disattachment of the two vehicles is important.

  • Patent number: 6302425
Abstract: A trailer with an extension member pivotally mounts to a hinge attached to the tongue or frame of the trailer. Front and rear retainers bolt and clamp onto the tongue and frame. The extension member is retained by the forward retainer and extends substantially parallel to the trailer tongue and beyond the trailer tongue. The forward end of the extension member includes a receiver element for mounting to the hitch of a towing vehicle and for extending the trailer further behind the towing vehicle. The extension member pivotally swings rearward to the storage position where it is retained for travel.

  • Patent number: 6273449
Abstract: The device consists of a two stage hydraulic tongue swing mechanism and a tongue latch mechanism for controlling and affixing the tongue of a pull type implement while the implement is being laterally transported. The two stage hydraulic tongue swing mechanism comprises a tongue plate attached to the tongue. A free plate is pivotally attached at the tongue pivot and is controlled by a hydraulic cylinder. The tongue plate and free plate are selectively attached to each other by a lateral transport latch. The tongue latch mechanism is partly affixed to the tongue and partly to the trailframe. Attached to the tongue is a tongue handle that controls the position of a tongue pin. The tongue pin is biased into an angled strike plate with a slot on the edge of the trailframe. The tongue pin may be held in a retracted position by a notched lock bar.

  • Publication number: 20010011807
Abstract: A detachable gooseneck trailer (20) having a gooseneck (24) and a detachable trailer deck (22) utilizes a trailer attachment assembly (30) to draw the trailer deck (22) toward the gooseneck (24) during attachment. The attachment assembly (30) includes a pivoting carrier (66) having a retainer leg (84) with a rearward facing load carrier engagement surface (90). A slide member (68) is attached to the trailer deck (22) and provides a forward facing slide member engagement surface (94). As actuators (70) pivot the carrier (66) rearward, the load carrier engagement surface (90) slides over the slide member engagement surface (94). A latching mechanism (34) utilizes an elongated latch plate (122) pivotally mounted on the retainer leg (84) to automatically latch the carrier (66) to the trailer deck (22). A latch biasing spring (124) biases the latch plate (122) toward its latched position, so that it automatically engages a catch (126) mounted on the trailer deck.
